Approximately 32 years ago, a young man transferred from Newtonbrook to Don Mills for his last few high school credits. He entered my class - big, brash, and bold - he proceeded to sit at the back of my class.
Quick witted, polite, but with a presence that could have upset the equilibrium. I quickly ascertained he was the son of Joe Boni.
Fast forward...a friendship began at DMCI but who would have thought we would end up coaching together for two years! I learned a lot from Josh. Aside from hockey, we had enjoyable times. In 2010-11, both my sons played Juvenile, and Josh was their coach.
Intermittently over the years, we would check up on one another.
We shared many a memory and I am certain he touched many hearts and souls in his special outgoing manner.
I spoke to Josh on June 19. We reminisced. He told me about his gig with Miller and sounded upbeat!
We all lost a very special young man. Not too many touch others like Josh did.
My family and I miss you.
