His commitment to public service extended to his roles on the District of Parry Sound Social Services Administration Board (DSSAB), the Parry Sound Public Library Board, and the West Parry Sound Community Police Advisory Committee, among many other community causes and projects.

Beyond his civic contributions, Tom was a dedicated Mason for 28 years. He was a chartered member of Goodfellows Lodge No.748 in Parry Sound, Georgian North District. Tom was also a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Valley of Barrie for the past 25 years.
