Obituary of Jane Brouwer

Jane was called home to be with her Eternal Lord on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Jane Brouwer (nee De Jong) of Barrie and formerly of the Holland Marsh, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie. 

Beloved wife of Andrew Brouwer. Loving mother of Gary (Corrine) Brouwer, Caroline (Ed) Dyk, Winnefred (Bernie) Wiebenga and Ken (Sherri) Brouwer. Proud grandma of Tara (T.J), Jeff (Kristyn), Tim; Caitlin, Travis (Katie), Justine; Alex (Mandy), Matthew (Emily), Sara (Cameron); and Finn. She will also be lovingly remembered by her 13 great grandchildren. Dear sister of late Sid (Ann), Andy (Martha), Bill (Linda), Susan (Marten) Verburg, late Gilbert (late Marga) and Effie (late George) Davison. Dear sister-in-law of Tine (late Jan) ten Kate, Albert (Clara), Effie (late Louis) Bierling, John (Anita). Jane will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews.

Adriaantje (Jane) De Jong was born in the Netherlands on Sept. 23, 1934.  As a young person, she loved competing in skating and track and field events.  Mom and Dad began their relationship in the Netherlands and married in Canada several years later. Mom was a great listener, and loved her family fiercely.  Mom and Dad spent 68 years together and were an example of trusting and depending on God's love and faithfulness.

Visitation will be held at Barrie First Christian Reformed Church, 33 Shirley Ave, Barrie on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. The memorial service will be held at the Church on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 1:30 p.m.
