Obituary of Charles "Charlie" Wilcox
Charlie peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Friday, June 6, 2025 at the age of 95 surrounded by his loving family at Matthews House Hospice, Alliston.
Devoted husband of Barbara (nee Richardson) for almost 70 years. Loving father of Craig (Wenda Lea) Wilcox and Jane (Scott) Lesperance. Proud papa of Andrew (Brittany) Wilcox, Jordan (Olivia) Wilcox, Daniel (Lindsay) Wilcox, Kelsey (Kyle) Vandekleut, Madison (Luke) Shaule; Leah (Canaan) Marche and Rachel (Eric) Engelsman. Cherished great papa of Cayden, Dallas, Declan, Nolan, Jamie, Elisabeth, Emmaline, Oliver, William, Riley and Hallie. Dear brother of Douglas, late Victor and late Evan (DorothyAnn). Charlie will also be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and friends.
Charlie spent all of his 95 years on the beloved Beaver Vale Farms, the land where he was born and where his heart remained even after his peaceful transition to Matthews House Hospice in March 2025.
From a young age, Charlie developed a deep-rooted love for farming, a passion that would define his life. He had a special fondness for working with registered Holstein cattle and remained actively involved on the farm well into his 95th year—driving tractors, helping with daily tasks, or simply enjoying the view from beneath a favorite tree watching as the farm activities unfolded around him.
In October 1955, Charlie married the love of his life, Barbara. This fall would have marked their 70th wedding anniversary—a testament to their enduring love and shared journey. Together, they shared a heartfelt passion for Gospel music, attending countless concerts and events that brought them so much joy.
Charlie loved the various churches he was a part of throughout his life- Bond Head United Church, Bradford Baptist Church and was a faithful member of Emmanuel Barrie for the past 15 years, rarely missing a Sunday service or seniors gathering. His quiet strength and warm presence made him a cherished part of the church community. Charlie had deep love for Jesus which was evident in the ways he loved those around him, in his commitment to the local church, and his awareness of his deep need for God’s grace.
Above all, Charlie treasured time with his family. He found his greatest joy in the company of his children, grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter.
Charlie will be deeply missed by his devoted family, his church family, and the farming community he so dearly loved.
