Obituary of Jacqueline "Jackie" Moorhead

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Jacqueline Beryl (nee Perkins) Moorhead. Jacqueline was born on October 31, 1939 in Toronto, Ontario. She passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, at home in Mississauga, Ontario with family by her side.  

Beloved wife of the late Lloyd Moorhead, the late Roy Armour and the late George Draper. She is predeceased by her parents Verna (nee Taylor) and William Perkins. Jackie was raised by her late Aunt Blanche (nee Taylor) and late Uncle Arthur Francis. Loving mother of Janice (Steve) Gallant, and Brian (Gayle) Draper. Dear grandma of Scott (Megan) and Kristin Draper; Matthew, Michael, and Mitchell Gallant and great grandma of Elliott.  Dear sister of Blanche Hickes and predeceased by her brothers Ernest and Frank; and sisters Patricia, Ethel and Diane. Dear cousin of Lynne Hayes, who was like a sister to Jackie. Stepmother to Sharon (Peter) Hattlmann, Glenda (Tom) Counter, Jane (Brett) Rushlow, Denise (Tim) Foley. She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews. Jackie was a dear friend and companion to the late Aubrey Pottage and his family, along with her dear friends Jack and Mary Eastwood.

Jackie started working at a young age in the grocery business, then Bell Canada. Later she worked for Armour Mailing and had her own craft business. She loved volunteering and was involved with the United Church Women, Womens Institute and the Lioness Club. She also canvassed for the Canadian Cancer Society and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

She will be remembered for her generosity, loving heart, courage and kindness to others.

Jackie treasured her family and friends the most. She enjoyed crafting, painting and doing puzzles as well as dancing and camping. She also enjoyed the many years of Taylor reunions where family could reconnect after so many years of being apart.

Visitation will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 5-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Mt. Albert Cemetery, Mt. Albert.

In Jackie's memory, donations may be made to the Mt. Albert United Church, Lung Health Foundation, Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Cancer Society.
