It came as a big shock this morning August 8, at the dog park when I found out my friend Josh had passed. Over the last few years my friend Solange with her buddy Marty, Ruby Mae and I would meet Josh and Knuckles at the dog park. We shared the love of dogs and the fresh air and friendship of the dog park. Solange and I were devastated we did not know and therefore did not attend his service. Josh would toot his car horn everyday as he passed Solange's house and my car as we passed in town. We had discussed how we hadn't seen him and left messages on his phone. As we also care deeply about Knuckles, we are wondering where his is knowing no one will fill the big shoes of his Josh. So we will gather at the dog park soon and share a coffee or green tea as it were, remembering Josh! Safe travels....

Dear Joe, and Joanne. While it has been a long time since we connected I wanted to write and express my sincere condolences on the passing of Josh. He was instrumental in my many childhood memories. We had countless fun times at school, playing on Tanjoe Cresent and Joe taking us to wrestling matches. While I cannot comprehend the sorrow you are experiencing I hope the many happy memories you shared together help you get through this difficult time. May you know no more sorrow. Alan Posner.”

We shared a house with Josh the last 6 years of his life. He lived downstairs with his best buddy Knuckles, his loyal dog. We considered each other family. Josh a sensitive and a kind soul who loved to say hi and to talk to everybody on our street. No matter the struggle he didn't give up. I am thankful that Josh was in my life. He taught me not to sweat the insignificant stuff...He and Knuckles felt like two of my boys, along with my husband, two sons and Barry my dog, especially when my daughter left home over 2 years ago and got married. It was just me and the boys...we miss you Josh and it still feels like you are downstairs, but you're not, we know you are in our memories and in our hearts....Until we meet again.

Sending all my love and prayers to Joe, Joanne, Krystal , Mike, his nephews Nicholas and Makais. Josh would always constantly talk so highly of you boys.
Bones it’s hard to put into words how much you meant to me and my family over our 43 years of friendship. You have been the best friend that anyone could ever ask for. Someone you could always rely on being there for you and having your back through the great times and the tough ones.
I’m thankful for that day we met as 7 year olds at Goulding Park battling it out as opponents which soon after led to being teammates and the start of our life long friendship.
So many of my greatest memories have been with you and I owe you so much of who I am today. Thank you for the memories at the hockey rinks, baseball diamonds,
Soccer fields , summer camps, our late night shenanigans and of course the ones we made at our headquarters Tanjoe Cres.
I’m gunna miss your big heart, your one of a kind sense of humour and those one liners that always had everyone busting out laughing especially the early morning phone calls we shared driving to work usually about some hilarious story of the past.
Missing and thinking of you everyday my brother.
Love you forever Bones ❤️

Approximately 32 years ago, a young man transferred from Newtonbrook to Don Mills for his last few high school credits. He entered my class - big, brash, and bold - he proceeded to sit at the back of my class.
Quick witted, polite, but with a presence that could have upset the equilibrium. I quickly ascertained he was the son of Joe Boni.
Fast forward...a friendship began at DMCI but who would have thought we would end up coaching together for two years! I learned a lot from Josh. Aside from hockey, we had enjoyable times. In 2010-11, both my sons played Juvenile, and Josh was their coach.
Intermittently over the years, we would check up on one another.
We shared many a memory and I am certain he touched many hearts and souls in his special outgoing manner.
I spoke to Josh on June 19. We reminisced. He told me about his gig with Miller and sounded upbeat!
We all lost a very special young man. Not too many touch others like Josh did.
My family and I miss you.

Very saddened to hear about Josh’s passing.
Josh was truly one of a kind — I’ll always remember the good old days playing rec hockey with him and the boys at Goulding Park. He had a big heart, a quick wit, and always brought a great sense of fun wherever he went.
Although we hadn’t crossed paths in some time, I always appreciated catching up through his Facebook posts — whether it was about his dogs, updating his workout routine, the state of hockey, or his legendary Leafs rants. Bones always had something to say, and it never failed to bring a smile to my face and lighten up my day.
Sending my deepest and sincere condolences to his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

How do I say goodbye? I am so lost. I can't imagine a world without you in it. You were always filled with so much love and plenty of laughter. So much of who I am is because of you, and the 15 years we were together. With that I will say, "If I don't see you through the week, I'll see you through the window", "Take care, comb your hair" and as always..."Check ya later!" I have always loved you, and always will.

It saddens me to think that I won’t be able to make the funeral viewing. Josh was a coach and great mentor for me. I’ve been with Josh for a long time he used to pick me up every Wednesday from high school to take me to hockey from 2009-2013. He was a great person to be around and always made us all laugh. Josh you will be missed and your hockey skills will never be forgotten.

Josh Boni, you were one of a kind.
Loud, hilarious, and completely unforgettable. You had a way of turning the most ordinary moment into something we’d be laughing about for weeks. You didn’t just make us laugh — you wrecked us with laughter. Every single time.
But what I admired most was your honesty. You never pretended life was easy. You shared your struggles with rawness and courage — not for sympathy, but so others didn’t feel alone. That kind of vulnerability was your superpower.
You were comfort and comedy, honesty and heart, all wrapped in one loud, lovable human. We’ll carry your stories (and your jokes) with us forever.
Rest easy, Josh. You were deeply loved — we’re going to miss you.

I am devastated to hear of “Boni’s” passing. He was family. He has been part of our family for years. His voice, his presence warmed up any room. He lifted spirits. He made my dad smile in dark times and could always talk hockey up and down a ladder and back. My heart is heavy for all how knew him. May his memory be a blessing. Gone too soon. My condolences to his family and friends. Lori Sherritt-Fleming and Mike Fleming.
