Obituary of Sharon Leona Gray
With laughter and tears, we say goodbye to our beloved Sharon Leona Gray, who passed peacefully at Royal Victoria Regional Health Care Centre surrounded by loved ones on Monday, September 8, 2025.
Sharon was a firecracker of a woman - feisty, fun, and never afraid to live life her own way. She wasn’t always right (and she knew it!), but she was always full of heart, mischief, and light.
Sharon was the second youngest of ten children, growing up in a whirlwind of family, love, and chaos that shaped her adventurous, non-conforming spirit.
Over the years, she built a big, beautiful family of her own. Sharon had two children with her husband David Andrew Towers; Jim and Sheri. Over the years the family grew to include Jim’s wife Krista, beloved grandchildren (Thomas, Matthew, Kenzie, Trevor, Hailey, and Heidi), their partners, great grandchildren (Levi and Raylon), and most recently her crazy dog Luna.
Sharon was married and widowed twice in her lifetime and up to the day she passed, shared the love of the Grays who never stopped being a part of her life even after the passing of her second husband Arthur James.
Sharon’s life was further enriched by her dear friend and companion Wayne Bessey, whose five wonderful children (Lisa (Stephen), Carla (Grant), Kim, Donna, and Darren (Laurie)), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren further added to her life’s joy. Her beautiful friend and neighbour Lisa and husband Bruce were always there to lend a helping hand and to care for Sharon over the years she lived in Barrie.
Sharon lived boldly, laughed loudly, and loved fiercely. She leaves behind not only her immediate family, but also her surviving sisters, many nieces, nephews, greats, great-greats, and friends who will miss her quick wit, sharp tongue, and generous heart.
In honour of Sharon’s gratitude for the loving care she received, donations to the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Foundation in Barrie would be appreciated by the family.
A Celebration of Sharon’s Life will be held at a future date where we will gather to share stories, laughter, and love - exactly as she would have wanted.
