It is of deepest regret, hearing of Bekir’s passing.
Upon just hearing of his passing, we regret not coming to the funeral.
My parents, Jovan, and Mara Andic Started farming at the same time as the Jacubaovic’s did back in 1971.
I remember both families lending equipment to each other since they just started farming.
Both families retired as proud, Successful Marsh Farmer.
Becky will be truly missed and may he rest in peace!

Today, we gather to remember and honor Behkir Jakubovic, known affectionately to us all as Dedo. A man of remarkable character,
Dedo's life was a testament to the power of hard work, kindness, and unwavering dedication to family.
I first met Dedo at his house, and from that moment, I knew I was in the presence of someone special. As my father-in-law, he welcomed me into his family with open arms, embodying the warmth and generosity that defined him.
Dedo's journey was one of courage and determination. His decision to move to Canada was perhaps his greatest adventure, one that opened new doors and opportunities for his family. This bold step showcased his resilience and adaptability, traits that would serve him well throughout his life.
At his core, Dedo was a family man. His eyes would light up when he spoke of his loved ones, and the birth of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy.
We were all thankful for him entertaining the grandchildren with real field trips on the tractor or searching for giant vegetables. His Passion for protecting the Earth through efforts such as recycling 40 years ago before anyone knew what that was is a reflection of his deep connection to the earth and his roots.
Dedo's work ethic was truly inspirational. He approached every task, no matter how challenging, with determination, grit and speed. I believe if it were not for Dedo Our house construction would have taken twice as long right from the time He delivered the first culverts on his truck.
This dedication left an indelible mark on all who knew him, myself included. He taught us the value of perseverance and the dignity of honest work.
But Dedo wasn't all serious business. His ever-present smile and the twinkle in his eye hinted at a joyful spirit that made everyone around him feel welcome and at ease. His passion for dancing the Colo along with his gift for storytelling, regaling us with tales from his life in Bosnia, keeping his heritage alive through his words.
Dedo also had a practice of giving everyone he met a Nick Name most were endearing . For example His Second born Grandson Justin was “Patcha” which means cute little Duckling likely because of his adorable dimples.
I am not sure what my nick name was I am sure it was something special like “Daughter Thief”
At special Family events He Enjoyed Preparing and roasting a lamb over an open fire. When I first saw this done turning slowly by hand I thought there has to be a better way so I built for him an automated Rotisserie which he really enjoyed and scored me many Son in Law points.
In times of difficulty, Dedo's response was always the same: to work harder. He faced challenges head-on, always moving forward. This resilience, combined with his giving nature, made him a pillar of support for his family and community.
Dedo would always make guests leave with something special, Carrots, Onions, Smoked Meat you name it.
As we bid farewell to Dedo, let us remember the lessons he taught us through his actions. Let us live each day to its fullest, approach our work with dedication, and always make time for family.
In his memory, we'll continue to cook the dishes he loved although (maybe not in the quantities he loved), keeping his spirit alive in our kitchens and in our hearts.
Dedo, your legacy of hard work, kindness, and love will continue to inspire us. We are better for having known you, and we will strive to honor your memory by embodying the values you held dear.
Rest in peace, dear Dedo. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Many condolences to the Jakubovic family but especially Mrs Jakubovic, Mirsad, Senad & Mirsada. I had few interactions with Mr Jakubovic, because as a young child, perhaps I found his moustache intimidating. There was also the story that he drove his forklift down Highway 400 backwards from the Marsh to Bradford - made him into a legend. Like many of the immigrants that came to make a life, he took little and made the most of it. I remember the shambles of a house that the family first moved in to (probably no hot water, no proper plumbing), and then after years of toil, built a beautiful bungalow for the family. (Senad was especially proud of the angel stone that adorned the front). Sorry I cannot be there in person during this time of sadness and loss - would loved to have caught up with you all. Steve Luk
