Obituary of Fred Kosziwka
Fred peacefully passed away with his loving wife at his side, at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 91 years of age.
Beloved husband of Gloria Kosziwka (nee DiPietro) for 61 years. Loving dad “father” of Theresa (Greg) Cosway, Diane (Thomas) Anderson and Ken (Stephanie) Kosziwka. Proud Grampa of Sarah (Matt), Brendan (Julia), Nadine (Vince), late Madeline, Devin (Tyler), Danyka and Kallen. Cherished Great Grampa of Violet, Logan and Roman. Survived by his sisters Mary, Pauline and brother Henry; and predeceased by brothers Joseph, Steve and Mike. Fred will also be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews.
Born in Elfros, Saskatchewan in 1933. Fred headed east to Ontario with his two brothers, eventually settling in Toronto, where he met the love of his life Gloria. Together they made their home in Georgetown, raising a family before finally settling in Bradford.
A man of simple joys , Fred could often be found tending his vegetable garden, making preserves, barbecuing, or lost in a Clive Cussler novel. He never missed a chance to cheer (or jeer) his favourite teams, the Blue Jays, Maple Leafs, and his beloved Saskatchewan Roughriders.
He loved nothing more than sitting beside Gloria or surrounded by his son, sons-in-law, and grandchildren, watching a game, a good western or listening to Johnny Cash or Charley Pride around a campfire.
Fred will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, genuine kindness, and gift for storytelling. His was a well-lived life, rich with family, friendship, and the simple pleasures he cherished most.
Visitation will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Rd, Bradford on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment at Holy Martyrs Cemetery, Bradford.
In Fred’s memory, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada or Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
