Obituary of Alexandria "Sandy" Hudson

On Monday, November 3rd, 2025, the world lost a great and wonderful person. Surrounded by family she left us peacefully. Sandy enjoyed good health for most of her life and faced the last couple years with strength and grace.

Born in Paisley, Scotland and raised in Scarborough, Ontario attending John A. Leslie P.S. & R.H. King Collegiate. Sandy developed a love for people, travel and creativity early on. After graduating high school, she began working in an office before heading to Scotland, where she lived and worked in Inverness. Though she loved her time abroad, her heart brought her home to Canada, where she continued her career in administration - working hard to pay back her mother and save for her next adventure.

Over the years, Sandy built a remarkable career defined by dedication, compassion, and service to others. She held positions with Mac Lewis as an Executive Assistant, in local ambulance and funeral services, and at Bradford Frozen Foods. She later joined Spectra, where she remained until her retirement. In her 40’s and 50’s she attended night classes and graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Beyond her professional life, Sandy dedicated 16 years to public service on Bradford Council, serving as both Councillor and Reeve (Deputy Mayor) beginning in 1985. Her generosity and commitment to her community left a lasting mark on all who had the privilege of working alongside her.

Sandy was a proud mother of David (Catherine) and the late Lara, and a loving grandmother to Taylor and Paul, Heather, Sophie, Jack, and Brett, and GiGi to Lennon and Paisley. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At the heart of it all was her “better half,” Brian. She admired his blue eyes, soft-spoken nature, and generous heart, and together they shared 58 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and adventure - exploring much of every continent except Antarctica, which they viewed from the ship when weather kept them from going ashore. Their life together was built on deep loyalty and quiet devotion, and as she said, she loved him still; and she liked him a lot.

Sandy had a creative and artistic side, finding joy in quilting and handmade projects that reflected her warm spirit. She loved to travel, share stories, and spend time with family and friends.

Sandy had that rare ability to meet new people and instantly blend in with any group. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, adventurous spirit, and the love she gave so freely to everyone who knew her. Her laughter and warmth will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A Celebration of Sandy's Life will be held on Sunday November 16, 2025 at The Club at Bond Head, 4805 Seventh Line, Bond Head. Casual Welcome Gathering opens at 12 noon and a seated Tribute will start at 1:15 p.m.

In Sandy's memory, donations may be made to the Margaret Bahen Hospice, Newmarket.
