Obituary of Angela Joy Kuch
Joy Kuch (née Largura) of Bradford, Ontario, born October 3, 1947, in Gary, Indiana, to Tino and Angelica “Jay” Largura, quietly passed away in her 78th year on November 14, 2025 after a courageous and distinct battle with dementia. Her husband, Gunter, and her daughters, Karin (Jeff) and Lisa (Dustin), were by her side.
Joy is survived by her beloved grandchildren: Sarah, Alex, Matthew, and Kaiden — who each made her incredibly proud.
An educator at heart, Joy never lost her passion for helping others learn. As a young girl, she was once told she would never become a teacher; so began her lifelong drive to prove that her belief in herself was stronger than the opinions of others.
Joy met her husband, Gunter, at age 18 in the Santa Barbara City College Choir, after he mistakenly boarded the wrong bus. They married soon after, at ages 19 and 20, setting yet another example of perseverance and love when others expected them to fail. Joy and Gunter would have celebrated 58 years of marriage on February 3, 2026.
Joy loved spending time with family and friends gathered around a table playing cards — whether on land or on the water. She found joy in playing the piano, reading, cooking, sailing, and listening to her daughters sing. Her deep love for music became part of her legacy, as all of her grandchildren have inherited her musical spirit and talents.
A memorial visitation will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 from 12 noon until the time of a memorial service at 1 p.m.
The memorial service will be livestreamed on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at 1 p.m. A link will be provided here at 12:30 p.m. on the day of the service.
In lieu of flowers, and in honour of Joy’s lifelong passion for music, the family kindly requests donations to MusicCan Donate Here, a local charity whose mission is to provide children in Canada with the opportunity to learn an instrument and receive music lessons.
