Obituary of Barbara Čemas
Barbara peacefully passed away with family by her side, at Etobicoke General Hospital on Friday, January 16, 2026 at the age of 89.
Beloved wife of late Stanley Čemas. Loving mother of late Mario Čemas, Stanley Čemas, Irene Čemas (Stefan Kash) and Stefan Čemas. Proud stara mama of Madeleine and Michael Kash. Dear sister of late Mate Čadonič (Marica), late Ana Balkovec (late Peter), late Lojze Čadonič, Marica Grdun, late Franc Čadonič, late Slavica Čadonič, late Peter Čadonič, Mirko Čadonič (Francka), Kristina Grašič (Tone) and Katica Mavec (Joe). Barbara will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, both here and in Slovenia.
Barbara met all that life had to offer with grace and devout Catholic faith. She was born in Zilje, Slovenija and was one of 11 children who knew the meaning of purpose from a very young age. She was strong to the end knowing she’d lived her life with intention; loving and caring for her family, making memories at home and the cottage, sharing all that she could and spreading kindness with each day. She will forever be remembered for her beautiful smile, having the patience of a saint, skilled hands with all needlework, and the delicious meals she carefully made with the crops from her gardens’ bounty. In so many ways she taught us that you can always make something from nothing, and that living with simplicity can often bring great joy. May she find a wealth of happiness in heaven and rest in eternal peace.

Visitation will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford on Sunday, January 25, 2026 from 2-5 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Parish, Colgan, 2118 Adjala-Tecumseth Townline Colgan on Monday, January 26, 2026 at 11 a.m.
Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, Mississauga.
