Captain (Retired) Peter Ross Thomas CD

Peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026 in his 88th year. Dear husband of Elaine (née Johnson) for 51 years.

Loving father of Andrea (Rob Harris) and Paul (Heather Limburg). Proud Grandpa of Emalyn and Nathan Harris and Claire and Owen Thomas. Survived by his sister Leah Steele. Predeceased by his siblings Eleanor (Don) Copland, Betty (Ron) Calligan, Charmaine (Bill) Tuckey, Richard Thomas and Rosemary (Richard) Lutz. Fondly remembered as "Uncle Peter" by many nieces and nephews. 

Peter grew up in London, Ontario, and later settled in Gilford, Ontario where he was a resident for 50 years. Peter worked for the Ministry of Transportation (formerly the Department of Highways) from 1960-1993, holding various positions in road surveying and engineering, and electrical and lighting design. After retiring from the Ministry, he founded his own consulting business Wesgwyllym Technologies. He was a graduate of Georgian College where he received his Electronic Engineering Technician diploma in 1988. Peter served with the Canadian Army Reserve for many years including with the 9th Signal Regiment, London 1955-1964, Toronto Signals 1964-1970 and Toronto Scottish 1970-1974 and worked at the Base Borden Blackdown Army Cadet Summer Training Centre from 1994-2003. He was also an active volunteer for many years as Liaison Officer for 329 Army Cadet Corps (Tottenham) and 1849 Army Cadet Corps (Orangeville). Peter was a long-time member of Trinity Anglican Church Bradford. 

Memorial visitation will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Road, Bradford on Monday, March 16, 2026 from 11 a.m. until the time of a memorial service at 12 noon. Luncheon reception to follow.
