Obituary of Argentino "Archie" Ianni
Argentino (Archie) Ianni passed away peacefully at Southlake Health in Newmarket on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the age of 85.
Archie will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 61 years, Christine, and by his three sons: Anthony (Lorraine), Michael (Susan), and Paul (Mary). He was a proud Grandpa to Mitchell, Kristen, Blake (Kaitlyn), Lauren, Isabel, Ben, and Colin, and a very proud Great Grandpa to Jane. Archie was predeceased by his sister, Anna Fiore (Onorio); his brother, Frank Ianni (Mary Lou); and his parents, Giovanna and Antonio Ianni. He will also be fondly remembered by many friends, and by the Ianni and Kastner families.
Archie was born in Casalvieri, Italy in 1940. In 1952, his parents moved to Canada in search of a better life. In 1953, at the age of 12, Archie and his siblings followed on a difficult two week journey aboard the MS Saturnia. Arriving in a new country without speaking English was not easy, but Archie adapted quickly and helped support his family from a young age, delivering newspapers and milk.
As he grew older, Archie obtained his carpentry qualifications and later earned his real estate licence, eventually becoming a general contractor who built many homes throughout the GTA. He later left the city and built his own family home in Orillia, where he created a successful painting business. Over the years, he went on to build two more family homes as well.
