Obituary of Joaquim "Jack" Martins Dias

Jack peacefully passed away at Bradford Valley Care Community on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 85 years of age.

Beloved husband of Zulmira for 63 years. Beloved father of Paula Pereira (Domenic Monardo), Joe (Laura) Dias and John Dias (Deborah Diaz). Proud grandfather of Christopher, Andrew (Diane), Katherine (Luigi), Matthew, Lauren (Joardan) and Nathan. Cherished great grandfather of Thomas, Lucas; Audrey, Adeline; Beau and Beckam. Dear brother of Jose, Gloria and Mena and brother-in-law of Raul (late Bia). Jack will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Manuel and Laurinda Dias, son-in-law Donald Pereira and siblings Alice, Ema, Manuel, Joao and Ermelinda.

Joaquim was someone who enjoyed being around his family. He was a painter by trade and worked on many great projects in Toronto as a foreman. As a young man he played professional soccer in Portugal, but nothing gave him greater pleasure than sitting and spending time breaking bread with all of his family and friends. He loved to travel and looked forward to spending his retired years divided between his homes in Canada and in Portugal always surrounded by family and friends.

A memorial gathering will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Road, Bradford on Sunday, February 22, 2026 from 2-4 p.m.

In Jack's memory, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County.
