Theodore (Ted) Tomayer

Obituary of Theodore (Ted) Tomayer

Theodore (Ted) Tomayer was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Passing peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, April 19th at the age of 88, he is survived by his wife of 68 years, Vivian Joyce and four children with their spouses, Julie, Jeff and Maragret, Maureen and Ray and Carla and Andrew. Ted had seven wonderful grandchildren, Nicole, Andrew, Natalie, Jennifer, Pauline, Meaghan and Evan. Along with his great-grandchildren, Theodore, Ruby, Charlie, Finley, Nolan and Cameron. Growing up in Saskatchewan, Ted had a large loving family with seven siblings, Ann, John, Helen, Kaye, Don, Bill and Carole.

While serving Canada as a Warrant Officer in the RCAF, Ted toured the world and lived at various bases across the country. He served as an observer during the Cold War and all his children agree that one of Dad’s proudest moments was “earning his Wings”. To honour his commitment there is a dedication stone at Trenton Air Force Museum. Ted rounded out his career with Federal Labour Affairs. He had a lifelong passion for curling, golf and baseball, spending a lot of his free time at the ballpark watching the Toronto Blue Jays. Ted was kind, patient and genuine; everyone who crossed his path would be welcomed with a wonderful smile and inviting handshake. He set an example everywhere he went.

During the last year and a half Ted resided with Vivian at Sunnybrook Veteran’s Centre in Toronto. The family is forever grateful for their support.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to The Royal Canadian Legion – Aurora Branch 385 in support of The Poppy Fund.
