Obituary of Ross Montgomery
March 24, 1946 – March 11, 2026
“A life lived with strength, heart, and stories worth telling.”
In Loving Memory
Ross lived with a quiet strength — the kind you didn’t need to hear to believe. He was a man whose word meant something, whose loyalty ran deep, and whose presence brought steadiness to every room he entered. He worked hard, loved deeply, and carried himself with a dignity that made him unforgettable.
He found joy in the simple, grounding things: the freedom of riding horses, the focus of shooting, the grit and honour of westerns and boxing, and in his later years, golf became his greatest passion — a place where he found challenge, peace, and pure contentment.
Ross was also a storyteller at heart. His stories weren’t just tales; they were adventures, lessons, and pieces of his life shared with the people he loved. When Ross spoke, you leaned in. When he laughed, you felt it. His stories will continue to echo through the people who carry them forward.
His Family
Ross leaves behind the people who meant everything to him: Leah-Anne (Ken), Bob (Lara), and his grandchildren Dalton and Kaitlyn, who lit up his world.
He is also lovingly remembered by his sister Donna (the late Gerald), his niece Elaine (Dave), his nephew Paul, and Trudy, the woman who always held a special place in his heart.
Each of them carries a piece of him — his humour, his strength, his stories, and his love.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 7:00 pm at the Newmarket Legion, 707 Srigley St., Newmarket.
Please join us in sharing your best stories, memories, and experiences of Ross. He loved telling stories — and tonight, we honour him by telling ours.

He lives on in every heart he touched.
