Obituary of Joan Elizabeth Philipp

Joan Elizabeth Philipp (née Hicks) passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Dulcina Hospice in Calgary, AB, at the age of 83 years.

Beloved wife of the late Helmuth (Hal) Philipp, Joan is survived by her daughter, Allison (Matthew) Lee, and was a proud Nana to Grace and Owen. She was the dear sister of Neville (Anne) Hicks and was predeceased by her brothers, Doug (the late Louise), Bob (Adele), Ken, and Terry Hicks, and her sister, Kay (George) MacDonald. Joan was also the dear sister-in-law of Hilda (the late Walter) Kovac and the late Elsie and Mike Radis. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Joan's life will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford, ON on Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joan's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. 

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Unit 112 at Foothills Medical Centre and Dulcina Hospice for their exemplary care and compassion.
