Obituary of Cathy vanGennip
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cathy at SouthLake Health Hospital in Newmarket on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 74 years of age.
Cathy was the beloved wife of Hans for almost 52 years. Loving Mom of sons Matthew (Jennifer) and Brett, proud Oma of Noah, Rielle, Mya, Isaac and Tenley. She was predeceased by her parents, Evelyn and Jack Schnurr, 2 brothers John and Steven and sister Barb as well as other family members. Cathy will also be lovingly remembered by her family, by siblings Maryellen, Pat, Dale, and David, aunts and uncles and their families as well as her dear friends, nursing coworkers, neighbours and Hans’ Holland family.
Cathy was a proud registered nurse having graduated from Kitchener Waterloo Hospital in 1972. She loved her job working in KW Hospital, Sarnia General, Aurora retirement home, Sutton clinic and finally the Community Care Access Centre in Newmarket.
Memorial visitation will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford on Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 12 noon until the time of a memorial service at 1 p.m.
