Obituary of Harry Vander Kooij

Harry Vander Kooij of Barrie and formerly of the Holland Marsh, peacefully passed away at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie on Friday, July 17, 2026 at 90 years of age.

Beloved husband of Alma Cook for 19 years and of the late Klaaske Vander Kooij (Miedema) for 42 years. Loving father of Anna & Bert Haar, Raymond & Sue Vander Kooij, and the late Mark Vander Kooij. Proud grandfather of Matthew & Meghan Vander Kooij, Kendra Vander Kooij, and Laura Haar. Dear brother of Rita & the late Chris Bydevaate, Sara & the late John Veenstra, Peter & Leni Vander Kooij, Corrie & the late Harry Langendoen, Audrey & the late Harry Kruisselbrink, Margaret & Piet Mostert, the late John & Caroline Vander Kooij and Chris & Lisa Vander Kooij. Dear brother-in-law of the late Robert & late Eva Miedema, the late Sam & Marjorie Miedema, Don & Eva Miedema, and Dirk & Grace Miedema. Harry will also be fondly remembered by Alma’s family and by his many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at First Christian Reformed Church (CRC), 33 Shirley Ave., Barrie on Monday, July 27, 2026 from 6-8 p.m. Memorial Service will be held at First CRC of Barrie on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 1 p.m.
