Obituary of Jean Riddle

RIDDLE, Jean (nee Miller)

It is profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jean Riddle on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital at the age of 96 years.  Beloved wife of the late Nelson Riddle.  Loving mother of the late Sharon (Barry) Graham, Marlene (late Don), Joe (Donna), Nancy (Wayne) Gray, Sandra (Alan) Harrison, Shirley (Eric) Gray, Barbara (Joseph) Hynes, Kathleen (Gerry) Gilbert, late Murray (Andrea) and Jim (Charlene).  Jean will also be lovingly remembered by 20 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.  Predeceased by her parents, Orville and Pearl Miller, and her sister, Ruth (Don) Vowel.

Born and raised in Uxbridge, she later made her home in Zephyr, where she and her late husband built a life together and where she proudly lived for more than 70 years.  It was there that they raised their ten children, creating a home filled with love, laughter, hard work, and unwavering support.  As her family grew, nothing made her happier than spending time with her family and watching each new generation grow.

A devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and proud great-grandmother, she will be remembered for her strength, kindness, generosity, and quiet wisdom.  Her greatest legacy was the family she nurtured, and her love will continue to live on in each of them.

A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at Zephyr Hall (officially The Zephyr Community Centre) at 310 Zephyr Road, Zephyr, Ontario on Friday, July 24th, 2026 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

In Jean’s memory, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
