Denise Souray

December 5, 1963  —  July 25, 2026

With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Denise Souray on Saturday, July 25, 2026. She valiantly battled cancer for more than 3 years. Devoted wife to George Yantzis. Loving mum to Nicholas, Charlene, Ashley and Vanessa. She will be a guiding angel to each of her grandchildren, Thomas, Kalem, Grayson, Theodore, Dylan, Natasha and Matthew. Denise will always be remembered by her sister-in-law Julie (Jim). Aunt Denise will be missed by Alexander and Violet (Joseph). She was great-aunt to Juliet and Valentina who adored her endlessly. 

Her aunts Rose (Barry) Dunn, Kathy Kozak, Marlene (Guy) Chartland and Marilyn (Jerome) Hertrich-Haug and uncles Edward Hertrich and Walter Hertrich were an example and steadfast support to Denise. She will be fondly remembered by cousins, friends, pen pals and students.

Denise had a lovely singing voice especially when she accompanied herself on guitar. Her artistic talent was recognized internationally through her special pen pal group of artists. Her detailed, to scale, miniature houses complete with realistic furnishings will remain treasures to her family. Denise didn’t just talk about the importance of education she demonstrated the value of education when at 51 years old she completed her high school diploma and went on to fulfill qualifications as an Adult Educator with Simcoe County.

Memory Eternal

Visitation will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford on Friday, July 31, 2026 from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon. Interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bradford.
