I often think back to the first Easter after my Papa passed away, which came only a short time after losing my Nanny. It was the first holiday without either of them, and that absence felt overwhelming.
I’ll never forget when Aunt Terry and Uncle Bill walked through the door carrying Easter gifts for my brother and me. It wasn’t about the gifts themselves—it was the fact that they recognized what that day would mean for us. They knew it would be the first Easter we wouldn’t receive anything from Nanny and Papa, and they quietly stepped in to fill a space that could never truly be replaced.
That simple act of love and thoughtfulness has stayed with me ever since. From that day forward, they became the grandparents we still needed. They have been a constant source of love, support, and family, and they have remained such an important part of our lives. I will always be grateful for the way they showed up for us when we needed it most.
Rest in peace, Aunt Terry. You are so deeply loved and will be missed more than words can express.
