Obituary of Henry Ernest Richards

Richards, Henry Ernest ‘Ernie” of Newmarket, retired AGM Canadian Pacific Railway, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, October 13, 2017, at the age of 90. Beloved husband of 66 years of Donna (Moore) Richards. Dearly loved father of James Richards (Carmel) and Paula Sangster (Jim). Loved grandfather of Virginia and Iain Houston and their children Astrid, Emery and Corin; Kevin and Alyssa Richards and their child Everly; Jeffrey and Carin Sangster and their child Mackenzie; and Craig Sangster. Dear brother-in-law of Joyce Hughson and family of St. Thomas.

Ernie was born in Bothwell on February 21, 1927, the son of the late James Ernest and the late Daisy (Colville) Richards.

Ernie was a Past Master of Temple Lodge #597 A.F. and A.M., London, 32 Degree Scottish Rite, Member of Rameses Shriners, Past President of the Tecumseh Shrine Club, Past President and Life Member of The Transportation Club of Toronto, Past Director of the Toronto Railway Club, Past President of the National Transportation Week Inc. for Canada, and a former Elder at Bradford United Church.

The family will receive friends at the Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford (1-800-209-4803) on Wednesday, October 18th from 7-9 p.m. A Masonic Service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 9:00 p.m. by Officers and Members of Tecumseh Shrine Club.

The funeral service will be held at Bradford United Church, 66 Barrie St., Bradford on Thursday, October 19th at 11:00 a.m. Visitation at the Church Thursday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Private interment in Highland Memorial Gardens.
