Obituary of Gil Almeida

Peacefully passed away at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket on Sunday, December 31, 2017. Gil Almeida of Bradford at 81 years of age. Beloved husband of the late Fatima. Loving father of Ana (Luis) Barroso, John (Kimm) Almeida and Maria (Vitor) Carvalho. Proud grandfather of Jennifer (Adam) Thornhill, Amanda (Glen) Puffer, Michael Barroso, Matthew Barroso; Steven Almeida, Kristen Almeida (Lucas Kitchen), Taylor Almeida; Monica (Nick) Daurio, Sonia Carvalho (Peter DeFaria) and Brian Carvalho. Cherished great grandfather of Quinn, Max; Kashton; and Brayden. Dear brother of Maria (John) Baganha, Lourdes (Eduardo) Sousa, Fernanda (Arthur) Hilario and Carlos (Grace) Almeida. Gil will also be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Bradford Valley Care Community, the doctors and nurses at Southlake Regional Health Centre, especially Susan for their compassionate care for Gil. Friends may call at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford for visitation on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Martyrs of Japan Church, 167 Essa St., Bradford on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. Interment Holy Martyrs Cemetery, Bradford. In Gil’s memory, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or Southlake Regional Health Centre Foundation.
