Hi Anita (Mrs. Sikma): You may not remember me but you taught me Grade 1 in 1962. I was in the same class as Janice Van Dyke, Charlie and Faye Miedema, Win Kiers, Nancy Radder, Harry Warnaar, Bas Hoving etc. Sorry to hear about the loss of your husband Joe. I wish you much strength in the weeks and months ahead. The weekend before my first day of Grade 1, I was at a friend of my parent's farm in Zephyr and found a "walking stick." We put it in a jar and I brought it to school on Tuesday morning. I was almost afraid to bring it, not knowing what the teacher would think, but my parents convinced me it would be OK. I have done a One Place Study of the Holland Marsh on WikiTree. Thus far I have noted about 430 names of Dutch Settlers who settled or lived in the Marsh since its inception. Scroll all the way down to see the list of people. In addition, you can click on any of the names and it will bring you to their profile. I hope you enjoy it. Again, please accept my condolences.
