To the Varga Family:
My condolences on your loss. Steve was my Sensei, mentor and friend - both on and off the mat. I will always remember how you literally opened up your home to me so that I could travel with you to early tournaments. I am proud to still be associated with Ryudokan - to me it will always be 'Steve Varga's Club'.

Susan, Lorrie, Steven and Lisa. My deepest condolences on your loss. My memories of your father have always been important to me. Long story short, my life could very easily have gone a different way had it not been for his friendship and tutelage. I also have strong memories of the four of you, many years ago, also forever ingrained on my mind. I was fortunate to have been able to reestablish my friendship with your dad these past few years and I am so glad that happened. I want you to know you will be on my mind these next few days as I look at old pictures and certificates. I will await the announcement of the 'celebration of life', which I will absolutely attend; but for now, I will remember Steve in the privacy of my own thoughts.
I give you this one thought to keep, I am with you still - I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the sweet uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the soft starts that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone, I am with you still in each new dawn.

Susan, Lorrie, Bud, Lisa and families,
Please know that you are in my thoughts during this very difficult time. The 8th line was always vibrant and full of surprises, with the drive from our place to yours, (perhaps with a stop at the oak tree)! I have many a fond memory of the warm welcome, conversations and laughter around the kitchen table. Your Dad was a unique and special man. He was so proud of you and your families. Treasure the memories, moments and unconditional love, Warm hugs, love and prayers, Darlene Vanderpost-Jebb

Deepest condolences, to Bud, Susan, Lorrie, and Lisa at the loss of their father. And, of course, to your families as well. For many years, I would see Steve Sr at the rink watching his grandchildren play hockey. He was always very friendly and had a great sense of humor. I can only imagine how proud he must've been with such a great family around him. Rest In Peace.
