Helen and Cathy. Gord and I were so sorry to hear about your Mom. I didn't know until tonight. Both you girls were wonderful with your Mom and you will find it very empty for awhile. It is difficult times now but know that we send you both hugs, even tho' from afar. I always remember my Mom saying what an accomplished seamstress your Mom was and how she always had you girls dressed in such cute dresses. Condolences to your families, keep safe and healthy.

A PEARL - SHINING BRIGHT
It's said Value's not realized,
Until it's left, or lost;
How you did attain that crown,
I know - and at what cost.
I witnessed as you sacrificed
Your time for Family:
Sew clothes for daughters, others, those
In our community.
And baking fruit-filled doughnuts, with
Egg-breads at Easter time,
Roasters full with cabbage rolls,
Perogies tasting fine.
I watched as your transition changed
From "Mom" to "Baba"; when
Next generation loved you as
Their "Big Baba" then.
Trained teacher not, but gently taught
All learnings you had earned
From life's hard knocks, your wisdom shared:
Improved us - I confirm.
But I'd describe - with most respect -
Your personality:
A cup that had flowed over with
Love's Generosity.
Yet, I alone won't miss you so,
But children, also too
Your grandkids, and of course their kids;
Friends, neighbours: who knew you.
Now reunite, revel with your
Beloved "Gigi" John,
With brothers and dear sister, and
All them 'fore you had gone.
And as the many accolades
Pay tribute - pledged for you;
Dismiss your inborn humbleness,
Accept them: all be true.
Thus, by HIS presence, and HIS gift
Of You we've so been blessed;
You've now returned unto HIS House:
An ANGEL - I attest.

Helen, Cathy, Allen, my heartfelt condolences to you and your families on the passing of a wonderful lady, your mom. I still have fond memories of the times when your mom, my mom and so many other ladies were busy in the Ukie hall on Simcoe, preparing all sorts of foods for weddings, dances and other special occasions. The laughter that came from that kitchen was so special. I was too young to know what they were laughing about, but it sure must have been good! Your mom will always remain in your hearts, as will the memories you each cherish. Take care of each other. Be there for each other.

Thankyou for all of the times you looked after me. All the times you made me those amazing perogies that I will never forget. I remember you would always reach into your purse and give us money to go buy a chocolate bar, I don't think I ever even bought a chocolate bar with that money. I will never forget the time I chocked on one of those yellow candies at your house. We will miss you. -Kassidy

You were blessed to have such a caring, wonderful mother. As she so deserved, in the end, you both became her mother. You both became the best caregivers ever.
I will always be grateful to her for teaching me her seamless sewing skills. She was the best!
When she came over to Cathy's she always had a kind word for me and my 3 children. So thoughtful!

I am so sorry for your loss. Aunt Pearl was a very strong and talented lady with her seamstress skills. As a child, I remember having a cold and getting Vicks from Aunt Pearl. May she rest in peace and celebrate with the other Yarmoluks awaiting her.

Helen, Cathy and Allan, I’m very sorry to hear about the passing of your mother and I’m disappointed that I won’t get to see you all and give everyone a hug at her funeral. I have fond childhood memories of Auntie Pearl such as her delicious homemade donuts and her over the shoulder shots in wedding receiving lines. The last time I saw her she told me about her life as a young woman, new to Canada from the Ukraine, and the path that led her to develop her master seamstress sewing skills and meet your father.
A wonderful woman. My condolences to your family.
