Cathy, Shawn and family :
heart felt condolences on your fathers passing. He was a wonderful man and myself and my family were better for having known him.
Just wanted to share a few stories about your dad that you may not know or remember.
One winter day Shawn and I were outside in the driveway by your house and it was about -20 degrees with a wind, and your dad was working on a tractor and got battery acid on his hands. I could not image how bad that must of hurt but he kept working. Tough guy.
Once I got my car stuck in the snow on Centre Road and Davis Drive and I couldn't get out without help. Out of nowhere your dad came over the hill with a tractor and pulled me out. I never figured out how he knew I was there.
When I was a kid and your dad was working in a field on a tractor, I would stand at the end of the row and wait for a ride. He would always stop the tractor and wave me over so I could ride with him.
I kept in touch with your parents when ever I was in Canada and visited them occasionally over the last several years. I visited a few times with my family as well. Your folks were always happy to see us and great hosts. I stopped by your dad's house last year October but regretfully he was not home
Your mom and dad were remarkable people and I will always think fondly of them. They will be missed.
I hope all else is good with y'all and our hearts and prayers are with you. Keep in touch.

The friendship between an old farmer and a city slicker may have been anomalous, but somehow we melded our experiences and had many similar interests. Our memorable trip to the Western Front in 2000 was a high point of a well-travelled man's life journey bringing into reach, Vimy Ridge, Waterloo, Juno Beach, Agincourt, the Battle of Hastings through the Bayeux Tapestry, Chartres Cathedral and Monet's Garden at Giverny, all places he never thought he would see. Driving through northwest Europe in a 5-Series BMW, eating baguettes and talking just added to the experience. He shared his homespun philosophy with me, "You can't eat without bread', "if my foresight was as good as my hindsight I'd be better off by a damn sight".
He loved his wife and put family above all else. He was generous to a fault at times. Regardless, he did it his way.
They made him and broke the mould.

Cathy, Shawn, and Sue,
Gwen and I want to express our condolences to you on the passing of Unc. He was a wonderful Uncle, great friend, and marvellous mentor. Over the years, together, we handled many bales, bushels, much manure, bags of potatoes, miles of irrigation pipe, pigs and cattle, chased “free range” pigs in Woodville after they fell out of the pick up, chased cattle to and from highway 48, planted, sprayed and harvested crops, went to see Johnny Cash, movies with John Wayne and Clint Eastwood, and so much more. He was a man with a great memory and many stories and if you forgot any, he could tell you again! He was also one to give you a call or visit, to boost you up in time of need. He never gave up especially in his battle with cancer. If there was a better way, he was for it. Thank you for being there for him. Many, many thanks to his kind neighbors and friends who would give him a call or a visit. Special thanks to Reverend Elizabeth, Sylvia T and Kevin S for their timely visits and calls. May Unc’s legacy of kindness and love endure. He’s home with Jesus and Aunt Beth! - Love Brian and Gwen Toole
