I met Fred while working at the Elden in the recreation department. Fred was one of the first residents to welcome me in with his warm smile and infectious laugh. He had a heart of gold and a sense of humour that could make anyone laugh. No matter what was going on, he could always get others to look for the good. He truly was such an amazing individual and his presence will forever be one I never forget.
Just think, now you can have all the Whoppers and Wendys you want Fred! You'll be deeply missed.
Sending my condolences to Bernie and everyone else in Fred's family.

My sincere condolences on your loss, Fred ( aka fur head ) lol, was my auto teacher at aurora high school back in the early 90's. best teacher i have ever had in my life. still talk about him some times with people. he actually cared about " his kids " and went out of his way to keep as many of us as possible out of trouble. i remember the phantom of the opera sound track playing in class all the time or the store he had set up in the parts room at the back of the shop. best teacher i ever had, he will definitely be missed by so many people.

To the family of Fred Sending you our sincere condolences on the passing of Fred. He was our friend and my mentor. He was head of tech at Sunset Speedway thru the 90's. Fred taught me so much about life and racing. On an exceptionally bad race night, when everything was going wrong, he would calm me down and point me in the right direction. Rules were rules to Fred and it didn't matter if you were his friend or just another driver, Fred stuck by the rules that he helped create for the benefit of all racers. One night during the Molson Export series he threw off the Molson Export shirt because Dizzy Dean was changing rules as racing went along. Fred did not agree with this and quit the series. That is the only time I seen Fred totally upset with racing. All of the other times he was good to go and loved all the racers and their crews and his tech men. I will sadly miss him and hope to meet him again, just not yet. Save me a seat Fred and would love to work with you again. Go to that Speedway in the sky Fred and wait for me. From all the Slaughter family, we are going to miss you and your gentlemen ways. Love you my friend.. Jack & Debbie Slaughter and family

To the family and Friends of "Uncle" Fred
Our condolences on the passing of Fred. A very kind man. All through high school, he was a cheerful smile and greeting every morning. Taught us all about more than automotives. He taught us to respect each other, about hard work, and about doing what was right. Also forced us to watch Pavarotti and the Three tenors.
Special condolences to Mrs Pombiere, Mike and the family, and the Greenwood family that we love and hold dear. Great days growing up and working hard in the Marsh. Fred taught many of us "muckers"
Our hearts are with you and the memories will keep us smiling.
Edward & Erika Hovius and extended Hovius family.

Our sincere condolences in the loss of our beloved Fred. What an incredible human being he was. Always searching for more "stars in the sky", now his star shines the brightest. His good nature, genuine care for others, his incredible love of his dear wife Bernie, and his children and grandchildren are the things he cherished most in this world. He was a dear friend to me and my family for decades, from helping hands of trying to put up our above ground pool, he'd help hold up the walls. Or holding Aaron as a tiny baby and helping to settle him, when Aaron just wouldn't settle, Uncle Fred had the touch. How many times our families shared eurchre nights, eating salmon salad sandwiches and thinking ourselves quite decadent. Life was
simplier, but always warm and loving when with Fred and Bernie. I remember when Fred would stand up for his students getting a "tuck shop" working out of his classroom and how much the students loved and respected him for caring about them that much.
We have all been blessed to have had Fred Pombiere in our lives. We will all miss him very much, but are grateful he touched our lives in such a positive way. Our condolences to his children, grandchildren and his adoring wife Bernadette. Much love to you all, strength in each other, may he Rest in Peace. Love Pat, Andy, Michelle and Aaron Poutanen

Fred was such a sweet, kind, gentle man. He was a wonderful teacher and an incredible human being. When Maria and I were young and our families would get together for social events, Fred would always take the time to spend time with us kids (I secretly wondered whether he liked being with the kids more than the adults). Fred always made my brothers and I feel special; like no other grown-up family friend. His genuine, caring nature will be missed.
My sincere condolences to your whole family. Maria, please give your mom a hug from us.
Sincerely,
Michelle Noble (Poutanen)
