Although I barely knew Gary, several years ago he came to Swarchuk's to pay his respects to my family when we lost my father. I'll never forget this thoughtful gesture from Gary and the news of his death has saddened me to know that BWG has lost a kind and caring man.
My sincere condolences to the Bayne family.

Dear Baynes Family, we are the architecture team at Loblaw Companies Limited and would like to take this opportunity to extend our deepest condolences to all of you. We are extremely saddened of the news of Gary’s passing and would like to say a few words from the team that reflect the way we felt about him.
For all of us, working with Gary for many years was a treat, he was the ultimate professional a person that took his work seriously and really enjoyed his role. We looked forward to seeing Gary everyday, he brought a sense of humour that was genuine and really reflected his positive nature on life. Gary loved the guys that worked with him and we shared many hours over beer and food, laughing our heads off at the local pub talking hockey and work. We knew he was a Montreal Canadians fan and he would rub in a win over the Leafs for weeks. We would always joke when he wore his Canadians Jacket.
The Loblaw Architecture Team will miss the good times with Gary, the colleague and friend, as we reflect on his time with us he has definitely left us with great advise, amazing quotes and how we should all live our lives with Integrity, honesty and to love what you do.
Goodbye Gary, Rest In Peace our friend

I am shocked and saddened by the passing of my good friend. We have been good friends since grade 9 not only being classmates (he was a better student) but playing on many school sports teams together (much better basketball player than me), double dating, partying together, travelling together and later playing fastball for the Village Inn and the Queens Hotel together.
It's the end of an era for me and I will be honoured to make a donation to the sports fund in his name. Sports were such a big part of his life and it is great to see his memory remembered in this way. Rest In Peace my good friend.

I has been my pleasure to know Gary Baynes since 2015. Fortunately, last year I got to know him better since he was the chairman of the Bradford Downtown Revitalization Committee. He was a fine gentleman with a kind soul. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. Gary had a great love for everybody and he served Bradford West Gwillimbury well. My deepest condolences go out to all of his family and friends.

My wife and I were both fortunate to have worked with Gary at TD Bank. He was a great gentleman. He was a regular attendee at our alumni lunches and we will all miss him. After his career at the bank he was clearly a well respected politician. This is no surprise to those who worked with him. Condolences to his family.

As principal of St. Angela Merici Catholic School, I had the privilege of working with Councillor Gary Baynes to promote walking and wheeling amongst our students and families. In our interactions, Gary was always positive and always had the kids' best interests at heart. Easy to talk with, he was also a good listener and could always be counted on to keep his word. We will miss having Gary at our annual Walk n Wheel events. On behalf of myself and the entire St. Angela school community, I extend heartfelt condolences to Gary's family. Rest in peace, Gary.

Ernie & Janice Dobney pledged to donate to the GARY BAYNES MEMORIAL SPORTS FUND.
It is a pleasure to make this donation as it reflects Gary's never ending desire to help his community of BWG, where he was born & raised, and loved so dearly, and his love of all sports. He was intelligent, quick-witted, & an exemplary member of BWG council ( he was a mathematical genius!). We can't recall any special community function that he didn't attend, even when his health wasn't up to par occasionally.
Our deepest condolences to the Baynes family. Gary will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched!

Gary was one of the kindest, warmest persons I have ever had the pleasure to work with. After my brother passed away he was one of the first to attend the visitation with a huge plant arrangement and a big hug. I have the Ward 2 councillor pen he was very proud to give me and will treasure it. My condolences to Gary’s family and obviously many friends. My deepest condolences to the Baynes family. I worked for Gary many years ago at TD. He was so smart and so kind and always in good humour and wanting to help. I have so many memories surfacing right now but one in particular was the time he planned to come and see us, his team, in London. It was winter and the day and night prior we were hit with a snow storm that basically shut everything down. A very small number of London folks made it into the office and shortly after in wandered Gary! He’d planned on being there so there he was having driven in from Toronto. Men in their trucks are invincible... Rest in peace Gary, you will be missed by many.

I had the pleasure of attending SS No. 4 elementary school with Gary's sister Bonnie.
I can recall fond memories of walking home during the fall and stopping at the Baynes apple orchard, helping ourselves to the tasty low-hanging fruit, and occasionally engaging in apple fights with the ground fallen ones, and never to experience any anger or chase from Gary's Dad.
And that gracious understanding and commitment to the building of our community was instilled in both Gary and Bonnie towards the betterment of us all. May you continue your work in a better place, along with the efforts of your Mom and Dad.
And may your Family celebrate the memory of your life in the positivity that you selflessly spread.
Our heartfelt condolences,
