I have memories of Darlene as being very dedicated to loving and helping students who struggled at school. She was dependable and quietly did her job of being a support to the students in her care as well as being there for the teacher. Darlene is a team worker and has a heart for Christian education. Her commitment to King Christian school was unwavering. She will be greatly missed!

Dear Ed, Aaron, Ben, Bryan, Ian and families
Darlene was my colleague and my friend. She was always so fun to be with and to laugh with. I can still hear her giggle! She was such a help and encourager as a fellow EA. She was always willing to listen and was extremely patient. I am so blessed to have worked with her and to have had her in my life for the last 8 years at HMDCS/KCS!
We will continue to pray for God's comfort and strength for your family as you mourn her loss. She will be greatly missed!

Dear Ed, Aaron, Ben, Bryan and Ian (and families)
We are so saddened to hear of the loss of Darlene. She is going to be missed very much by all who knew her. Darlene was such a treasured soul at HMDCS/King Christian School.
Growing up with “the boys” in HMDCS, I will always remember how Darlene always had a calming demeanour and was valued and respected so much by everyone. Even as I became an adult and saw Darlene at our place of business, she never changed.
Her love of the Lord and her family was unwavering. She loved her family so much!
Our family is keeping you all in our prayers during this very difficult time and we hope you find comfort knowing she is with our Lord and Saviour.

I have many fond memories of working with Darlene when she joined me in the Resource Room at HMDCS twenty-five years ago. We were quite a team, sharing the joys and challenges of working with “our kids”. Darlene was a patient and caring educator, with a ready smile for everyone.

I was one of Mrs Sikkemas students that she spent a lot of time helping and being with me and other students in the resource room or the learning centre at Holland Marsh District Christian School aka HMDCS
Thank you so much for all you did for with me in elementary school.
I so enjoyed the many days years of being in the resource room with Mrs Sikkema Mrs Kalk and all of the other wonderful and dedicated Educational assistants aka EA’s
I also enjoyed having Mrs Sikkema and Mrs Thompson as my baseball coach’s for a year or two ,where they taught me how to play baseball , in the marsh junior league which I still do but in the adult league now I also enjoyed playing baseball with Bryan and Ian Sikkema and having mr and Mrs Sikkema there watching the games.

Here’s a verse I like during times of death sorrow etc
Believers Who Have Died
13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words
I will also pledge to donate to king Christian school

Ed, Aaron, Ben, Bryan, and Ian, I am very saddened to hear of Darlene's passing. It looks like she was surrounded by her loving family; particularly her boys.
When I look back on my time at the Marsh church, one of my fondest memories is that of spending time with the youth and going on our serve project in Michigan. Darlene was stuck in my room with the other girls. This is where she found out that even though I was one of the leaders, I was just as hard to wake up as the teenagers that surrounded us. I always loved my sleep, but she would be our mom and wake us up every day. I know she will be missed and my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your families.

Dear Ed and family
We were shocked and terribly saddened to hear
of Darlene’s sudden passing.
My memories of my years at HMDCS working in the resource room with Darlene are treasured... she was so loved by the students and staff alike and made our time together so much fun with her contagious smile, her wonderful, kind, gentle, and fun-loving character... a true gem and a true friend.Although we did not see each other often I will miss her dearly.
She often shared lovingly about her family.... Ed and her boys and their wives and her much loved grandchildren were the the loves of her life, and she loved you all so well.
You will miss her terribly.
Our prayer is that our God of comfort will wrap you all tightly in his loving arms and carry you through this terribly difficult time. We will be praying for you all in the days and weeks to come.
