Our deepest condolences - Monika, John, Andrea, Manfred and all family.
We spent glorious, fun and memory filled times on Gull River as kids. John senior taught my dad how to mix cement. We built our cottages together. Will always remember how he could just look at a stone and know just where to split it. A good life, long lived.

Dear Monika & Family,
There is never a time when we are ready to lose a member of our family, especially our parents.
They are a constant in our lives from the time we are born, and it is devastating when they leave us.
However, there is solace in knowing they have gone to rest and are with the ones that have departed before them.
My heartfelt condolences to all ~ Blessings ~ Libby

Opa, I was blessed to have known you and be part of the Fleiner family for the last 40 something years. My dad enjoyed working with you when you were both with Lansing Build-All. You were like 2 peas in a pod and a lifelong friendship evolved.
You always had a smile on your face, enjoyed my company and loved to walk down memory lane with some incredible stories...the pocket knife, the tape measure, the pie-eating thieving bear, those pesky ground hogs, early married life, sitting in the corner restaurant in Queensville having a coffee with my dad to chat about "wives", and lastly, your war stories. I still chuckle the first time I heard you cursing downstairs while I was visiting with Andrea. I looked at Andrea with eyes wide open, wondering what is going on down there.....that is when Andrea walked me to the stairs and I saw you on the couch with your head phones on, watching the Leaf game. Even though we were upstairs, I always knew the outcome of the Leaf game.
You were a perfectionist when it came to your special craft...and it was like the surprise in the cracker jack box, to see what you had constructed since the last time I was at the house. I still remember you telling me that any jobs you wanted to work on at home first required approval from the Landlord :)
I knew I would always be in for some interesting stories each visit, but I truly enjoyed and appreciated your sharing those with me, especially the stories about my dad.
There was nothing that brought as much joy as your time spent at the cottage, enjoying friends and family that came to visit. I am so glad I was able to share time with you this past summer at the "Hideaway". I know you are sitting on the balcony with your beloved wife enjoying the sunsets.
RIP Opa xo

So many wonderful memories and stories that have been shared of this amazing man over the years and I am thankful that I had the pleasure of knowing him. Some of my favourite memories that warm my heart and bring a smile to my face are a girls' weekend at "Fleiner's Hideway' where Opa got more than he bargained for with an Olympic diving performance (with our 'one of a kind Ingrid', of course), Opa hanging out with all of the Ho Ho Ho's before going out for Halloween, and Opa quietly eating his toast at a little table in his kitchen the next morning while his couch remained occupied, and of course, enjoying conversations and laughs with Opa at some family gatherings over the years. I know the sharing of stories will continue and he will continue to bring a smile to the face of many. Sending love and hugs to the Fleiner family at this sad time.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Opa John Fleiner.Judith and I were deeply saddened to hear about his passing. My parents were neighbours of the Fleiners back in 1970,when my dad built our first home for mom, sister Susan and myself. My dad, being a carpenter and cabinetmaker, became close friends with Mr.Fleiner, as they worked together many times building cottages in Muskoka,Kawartha and Haliburton areas. My dad built the actual cottage and Mr.Fleiner masterfully built the fireplaces, most fieldstone...he was a very, talented tradesman and his work was artistically done.
I,myself remember some of Mr.Fleiner's stories that he told with his notable accent...his sense if humour was most admirable. The thing that I remember most is Mr.Fleiner's obcession with always carrying his tape measure...everywhere he went. When questioned why he always carried it around,he would respond by saying...I might need it! Mr.Fleiner was an honest, hard working humanitarian, who would never do anyone wrong.Such a wonderful person.RIP Mr. Fleiner...you will be sorely missed by all.
