Deepest condolences to all of Doris' family: Wilson, Heather, Bonnie and Tracey and the rest.
Doris will always be part of the magic that growing up in Lefroy was. One summer a violent storm broke out when many of us kids were swimming down at the beach, it must've been around 1960. We got out of the water when we saw the lightning and heard the thunder and started running home. The wind and rain drew up sticks and stones that struck us as we ran. Down the road to save us came Doris in the milk truck. She piled us in, picked more up along the way and delivered each and every one of us safely home.
Always remembered with positive memories.
Much love from Dael Morris.

We are sad to hear about Doris. I have had a boat at Monto since 1960. I was thirteen Whenever I left the marina Doris was there to ask where I was going and when did I expect to be back. It was a good feeling to know she was watching out for me and the other kids from the marina. In later years she cooked for us in the snack bar . My mother passed away when I was sixteen but Doris in one way or another was always there. Sad to say goodby

Very sad news. My first and most vivid memories of coming to Lake Simcoe and Monto Reno as a child included Doris in the kitchen making tuna sandwiches and French fries. Part of the reason Monto Reno and the lake is my happiest place is because for the whole (MR) family led by the sweetest Matriarch ever....Doris. She was one of the most special ladies around. Period. She’ll be missed. What a wonderful life and influence. My deepest condolences. Sincerely, Noah Aychental

Dory was a person of the very highest qualities and character; it was a privilege to spend a lot of time with her. She was one of the hardest working people I have ever met, who somehow also seemed to have lots of time for fun. She could only accomplish all this by never sitting still. If you look up the phrase “work hard – play hard”, there is a photo of Dory. Her insatiable desire to serve her family was unmatched. Her prime objective always seemed to be making sure everyone was being accommodated and having fun. Having that approach is what made life fun for her. Her attitude in that regard is likely a very substantial reason for the enormous success of her marina business. Her customers loved her, not just because of her engaging personality, but her unhindered determination that their needs were being met, no matter how many hours in the day that required. I will also remember Doris as someone who was much younger than her age. She was not the sort of person who was living by old ways or ever said “back in our day…..”; she was never stuck in a past time with her opinions and attitudes. She was progressive, remained “young” and with evolving attitudes, kept up by genuine engagement and understanding of the younger people in her family. I am forever grateful for everything she did for Tracey and my daughters and the positive influences on them. I will miss her, but consider my own life also being very positively enhanced by knowing her.

Gone but sure will not be forgotten!
Aunt Doris-who would rather be dri/vi/ng a tr.uck than doing dishes. This is why Grandma Wuerth came to Lefroy every summer - too look after the house. So that Dory could help Uncle ken with the business.
Then along came Wilson. The best thing that could have happened to Aunt Doris and the 3 girls.
Snowmobile racing, Monto Reno snowmobile club, And the marina - all because she could and would. The cottage - 4 wheelers - Boats - lazy summer evenings and weekends!
A full life well lived! Missed by many - Family, friends, customers, the figure skaters. Every one Doris touched will remember!

I have the perspective of time (75 years), distance (Vancouver) and family (Doris's 2nd favorite nephew). From a small town, she made a big impact. A feminist who did not realize she was forging the way. A visionary (the marina was her idea and she drove it), What might be not fully appreciated is what she did for her family and how she did it. She gave us all dignity, stuff hard to come by for some folks. She us a chance to work and then we found our dignity in that work. She gave us jobs and then stood back basically and let us get on with it. From that, I developed initiative (self-starting), social skills (milk route customers), truck driving ability, and a sense that I had to get out of bed every morning and do what I am here to do. We talk about legacy. Consider all the on-going jobs she created for her family, and for others. They in turn support their families. Its a big healthy family tree and Doris is the tap root. A vast expanse of well-being, propersity and self-worth. She was the catalyst and the fuel for all that.
Out there in Lake Simcoe, there is now a Sleeping Giant.
