Sincere condolences to Wesley, Claudia, Paul and Family and to the Riley family. Praying that God blesses you with His peace and comfort.
Sarah was one of the sweetest, kindest and most sincere persons I’ve known. I’ve had the blessing of living with the Riley family during my young adult years, in Kingston, Jamaica. Sarah was like a sister to me. I’ll always remember her contagious smile and helpfulness. I always remember her love for the Lord, her family, siblings, and the people of God.
You’re now safe in the arms of Our Father. “In the sweet by and by, we will meet on that beautiful shore!”

Condolences to the Oakley's family.
Morning Mrs. Oakley and she would respond "Morning Dawn Blake" with a broad smile. That was the usual greetings at Girls' Town Jamaica where we met and became very good friends. Even after she and her family migrated whenever we talked on the telephone she would say "Dawn Blake and Sylvia Oakley man" and both of us would start laughing.
Mrs. Oakley was kind, warm, loving, pleasant and someone who would go the extra mile to assist the students. At lunch time at Girls' Town, Marlene, Mrs. Oakley and I would always have lunch together, during which we would share jokes and then race to see who could get on a single bed (in a corner) first to rest before the bell would ring signaling that lunch time is over. Guess who would get on the bed first? Mrs. Oakley and I, then Marlene would say "oh! no space for me!" We would all burst out a big laugh.
Mrs. Oakley was a great chef, no one could bake salt fish fritters like her, mmmmm, she baked the best salt fish fritters. I will never forget one specific day she took some salt fish fritters for me to take home for my family, and when I got home all that was left was the foil. I could not resist them, so I ate them all. I told her the following day and she said "Dawn Blake yuh eat dem off" Okay I will bake and take some for you tomorrow but mek sure yuh take them home !" (smiling). The following day she brought some more for me and warned me not to eat them off before I got home. (those went home safely). She loved mangoes especially the ones from St. Elizabeth that I would take for her, whenever I visited my family. Sylvia Oakley, you were a good person and a true friend.
Rest In Peace
From Dawn Blake and Family.

Mama Oakley......when I first received the news, I was on my way to work. I remember just screaming and bursting out in tear the whole drive there. I was in disbelief. I was speechless. I was confused. I mean...I understand that God gives life and he taketh away, but I mean why you? I said to myself. You have over the years that we worked today at CH made a tremendous impact on my life. You have been like a mother, a sister, an aunt and an overall true and honest friend. If something wasn’t right, you always made sure it was dealt with in the right and proper way. Your infectious smile and laughter always brightened anyone’s day. I remember when you would call me and let me know that you’ve left dinner for me or your famous black cake at work and I would fly over immediately to pick it up before anyone could get to it. I remember when I found out be both shared the same birthday month and we were a day apart, we smiled and tried hard to convince everyone that it was the best month every. (You being September 21 and me being September 20). Mama.....I love you truly from the bottom of my heart. I wish I could have seen you one last time. I know God has another plan for you now and you have fought a good fight.
My deepest condolences to your loving husband and beautiful children to whom you spoke so highly and lovingly about during our times together.
You truly will be missed. May God bless your soul and may you sleep in peace.

To the family of my dear and wonderful friend Sylvia Oakley.
I know I'm speaking like one who doesn't know that death has a way to steal us away, but I'm saddened by this.
Mrs Oakley and I have been friends for many many years (at Girls' Town Jamaica) as teachers lunch time was a delight to us. Three of us would meet (Sylvia, Marlene, and Dawn) at the same place every day to eat and crack jokes about Oliver You Large and so on then race to get in a little bed that is big enough for one person, in a corner to rest before we get back to our classrooms.
Life goes on and we all went in search of our own dreams in different place, we lost touch but never forget about each other.
Just last year we were connected again with the help of our dear and mutual friend Christine. I remember how happy I was that night in October when I saw the text from her (Mrs. Oakley). From there on we would have video calls with each other talking and reminiscing about past days and people along with texts and pictures of encouragement and inspiration.
I'm so grateful to have had a friend so true and dear. Sylvia was so jovial, there was never a dull moment around her. She opened her doors to anyone especially girls who needed her and give out of the little she had.
Sylvia My friend sleep on. Your labour was not in vein. Your reward awaits. Go rest in the arms of your blessed saviour and Lord.
Take courage family and friends this is not the end.
God bless you.

This is her story, This is her song….
We pass this way only once and as such, are all given one chance to make an impact and leave our mark.
Sarah Oakley(nee Riley), certainly did make an impact and left her mark.
Her story began in 1954, in a small insignificant farming community called ABOUKIR (A-bu-ka). Her life and story was anything but small and insignificant. Like her fellow parishioner Harry Belafonte, she BLAZED a trail with her infectious personality…infecting those she came in contact, with her smile and laughter. Her kindness, caring ways, love for others and passion for family, shone brightly.
It was great to have met and been in your presence, you will be missed.
When you see St. Peter, tell him howdy from us down here.
You left too soon…aaaaahhh.
Some may ask…Why…why…Only our heavenly father can answer that question.
What I do know is this;
In the Sweet By and By, we shall meet on that beautiful shore.
When we all get to heaven…what a day of rejoicing that will be.
Some glad morning, when this life is over….”You” are going to fly away.
..……Her story continues through the lives of her husband, Wesley and her children; Claudia and Paul.
Blessed Assurance, Jesus is “Yours”….Oh What a foretaste of Glory divine!
This is your story...This is your song.
Farewell for now, see yuh lata, mi Sista.

Nothing could have prepared us for the sudden passing of our dear cousin. Sarah and I grew in the district of Aboukir in the parish of St. Ann. During those early years, I found her to be a very kind and loving individual with a beautiful and ever pleasant smile. On her sojourn to Kingston, I continued to visit the family from time to time. and the outpouring of love continued. Our condolences go out to Bro Oakley, Claudia, and Paul at this time. In Loving Memory of my Friend Sylvia
Eyevette White: Whitby, Ontario
To Wesley, Claudia and Paul kindly accept my sincere condolences in the transition of your dearly beloved wife and mother.
Sylvia, affectionately known to many as Sarah, was known to me as a fun, loving, kind and very hilarious person. Sarah and I were classmates at Eccleston Elementary School in, St Ann. As I recall those years with her, there was never a dull moment when she was around. Sylvia was very comical and with laughter so contagious that even the introverts of the class could avoid laughing at her humor.
After many years later we both migrated to Canada and lost contact. We reconnected over a decade ago and then I migrated to the US. Upon returning to Canada I’ve sought for further contact but couldn’t make any connection. This morning when I received Sarah’s obituary from my sister in Jamaica, I cried and felt sad I was not able to be in contact with her prior her passing.
Sarah, I know you’re gone but not forever; we’re encouraged in 1 Thessalonians 4:13 that, we should not be ignorant concerning them which are asleep; therefore, we do not sorrow like those who have no hope. Today we can rejoice that although you’re absent from us, you’re in the presence of your Heavenly Father. I’m comforted to know during your lifetime that, you had loved the Lord and had put your trust and confidence in Him who promised us eternal life according to John 3:16.
I will cherish the beautiful memories of you my friend.
So-long Sylvia, I’ll meet you on the beauty shores of heaven, where there’ll be no more dying; this world is not our home, we are pilgrims and sojourners here.
Rest in peace my Friend!
Sincerely
Eyevette

It’s unbelievable that we have lost you Aunt Sarah but we truly believe you are now reunited with our beautiful family who have passed, dancing and smiling with them up there in heaven.
My most vivid memory of Aunt Sarah was when she joined some of her siblings to travel to London for her eldest sister Phyllis’ funeral. There was no mistaking her - she was the jovial sister full of beans and very very funny. She came here with a suitcase full of hairstyles! I’ve never known someone to have so many. She was like a Motown Queen on stage. I remember telling her that I was quite envious of her youthful looks and how well she carried these hairstyles. We all joked about how close she and Uncle Oakley were - joined at the hip in fact - and I recall thinking how wonderful it was to have a marriage of so many years and still feel so connected and in love. Uncle Oakley, Claudia, Paul - no words can console you. All I can say is how very very sorry I am . Rest in eternal peace Aunt Sarah. I’m so happy you spent time with my family on my soil and my daughters Courtney and Rianna will always remember the day you spent cooking with us and showing them how to mix festivals. You were taken too soon. ❤️❤️

Our deepest condolences to Claudy, Paul, and Uncle Oakley during this time of grief. This was one of the hardest news to handle, especially the fact that Aunty Sarah was not just an aunt but a second mother to me. She was a selfless and nurturing soul who would sacrifice everything to ensure everyone was ok. She would always look forward to hearing jokes about the girls and sharing jokes about her siblings. We will miss her dearly, especially her sense of humor and infectious laughter. Aunty Sarah and mom would always go down memory lane when they spoke on the phone. Mom was also looking forward to sharing her latest joke with her but never got the chance. However, we are at peace knowing she is probably laughing at Dada’s corny jokes now.
Claudy, Paul, John, and Uncle Oakley, we know the days ahead will be tough but we hope you will find solace in the fact that she is at peace.
Rest in Peace Aunty Sarah!

My sincere condolences to her immediate family and the entire Riley family, extended family and friends. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those of us who knew her. Sending cheering words of comfort to the entire family circle. Be strong and of good courage , earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.

Sylvia, affectionately called Sarah was a sweet soul, kind and caring. We are coming from way back when we usually meet in Aboukir, St Ann to have some real good times. Those were the days. Most of all I remember her for the relationship she had with the Lord her Saviour. Gone but won't be forgotton.
May the Lord continue to keep her loving husband and children under the shelter of His Almighty wings . Rest in peace my friend and sister until then. From the Rookwood's

Loving mom, just not to her children alone but to all who came in contact with her. In her early days living in Jamaica in the cassia park area she never had a closed door and always welcomed all with open arms. Always praying for me and encouraging me to always stay on the right path I appreciated her in every way with that beautiful smile that’s always cheering to see. Will be sadly missed but sleep well Aunty & Sis S. Oakley
