Allan "Al" Lazier

Obituary of Allan "Al" Maxwell Lazier

Allan Maxwell Lazier, dob March 7, 1938 (Moonstone, ON).  Big Al as he was known by all, in both stature and personality, passed away peacefully after a resilient and courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, June 17th at 5:15pm ET at home in Orillia, ON.  Previous to Orillia Al & Karin Lazier were 40+ year residents of Bradford.  Allan was in the loving company of his devoted wife Karin of 58 years & his daughter Kimberly Ann and her partner Brian Furlong.  Allan leaves behind his granddaughters Alexis & Victoria of whom he was so very proud of for their achievements and independence.

After having lived a full life of 83 years he was a content and happy man.  Allan’s last messages to his family and friends spoke of love, positivity, forgiveness, gratitude and a reminder that he will always live on inside of our hearts.  Al possessed a passion filled soul and wholeheartedly invested his focus and energy with every endeavor.  He was a man who loved his family, adventure, the great outdoors and was multi-talented.  From pilot to snorkel/scuba diver he could effortlessly float across any dance floor and carry a tune like a Crooner!  From artist to sculptor, as a master carpenter or contractor, landlord, builder or land developer whether he be camping, fishing, hunting or boating he was always on a quest for knowledge and new experiences.  Al had an insatiable curiosity and boundless energy until his twilight years.  Al referred to himself as a self-educated man who was also extremely independent, entrepreneurial, and resourceful.  Al was always up for a great debate!  He spoke to strangers and anyone who met him immediately was treated like an old friend.  His sense of humour, jovial laugh and charismatic presence will be greatly missed and cherished by his family and friends.  For those closest to him you know the other half of the story…there’s a reason his wife Karin has often been referred to as “A Saint”.

Dad, thank you for the memories, the moments shared and the wisdom you imparted. We will all carry on with you in our hearts.  The void you leave behind will be hard to fill.  May you rest in peace and be reunited with your Mom & Dad (Veronica & Harper Lazier) your sisters Doris Lazier (McCabe) & Joan Lazier and your brothers Don & Paul Lazier who preceded you.  We’ll be seeing you as you sang to us on your last days. xo
