Dear Cynthia and Monica and families,
Sincere condolences to all in the loss of your beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather. It is with deep sadness we learn of Art's death. May he rest in peace with his beloved Margaret and be free of pain. We remember all the times we spent with him and the catering business. Thanks Art for the great meals that you provided to many back in the day.
We are unable to attend the service due to health issues but will be thinking of you.
Sincerely, Gary and Alice Johnston.

Our condolences to the entire Canadian branch of the Bakker family (and associates) from the Dutch branch of the Bakker family (and associates). Arend always lit up the life of every family member from an early age working at the bakery in Alkmaar to the last few years over phone and zoom connections. His sisters will miss his cheery disposition and his 'naughty' wit. His nieces and nephews, well they only remember the naughty bits. We hope all kids and grandchildren will cope with the loss of Arend and please remember you are always welcome in the Netherlands with the family here to share in his memory.

Sending our condolences to Art’s entire family, we are so sorry for your loss. Art was one of a kind. When Cynthia and I became friends at University, Art treated me like one of the family. As all of you know, Art was never one for holding back his thoughts. His humour (aka sarcasm) kept you on your toes and constantly in stitches. I am forever grateful to have met the Baker family, truly amazing people. Art is in his special place now, watching over us for sure and if only I could hear what he is saying . . . He is smiling and so am I, because I know he would be making me laugh. I am attaching a photo of when Art was visiting my family in Wawa. This is one of his proud moments for sure - catching some of those fish with Lori. Way to go Art. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Mom treasured her special friendship with Art and will miss him very much. I'm so happy they had each other to get through these past few years when they were stuck in lockdowns. Sending love to your family as you adjust to life without him.

I work at Caressant Care where Art passed away. He was definitely one of a kind and held nothing back. We had so many laughs with him. One I distinctly remember was when we were helping him out of bed and he said “are you looking for my legs”! We laughed so hard. I work in dietary and I knew he loved soft fried eggs so a couple of times I made them for him the day after his dialysis. This is not really allowed but I wanted to do something special for him. We had our moments but overall we were very sarcastic to each ….in a good way. We all miss him and it’s hard to look at his empty spot at the table! Very memorable. I know he is flying with the angels and I bet he’s leader of the pack. His suffering is over . ❤️

Monica and Cynthia and your families. Lynne and I send our deepest sympathies. Art was a great personal friend. He was also a great friend and member of the Newmarket Lions Club. His contributions were numerous. When many of us think of Art we think about food. Those of us at York Regional Police will always remember the reception after Constable Doug Tribling's funeral. There was no way of knowing the number of attendees who attended the Markham Fairgrounds. It was a huge gathering. Art never ran out of food! Now he is with Marg again. Their memories will never fade.

I am sorry to hear of your dad/granddads passing. Sending prayers and love over the next few weeks. He was a great guy. The house to go to on Halloween was yours for the cans of pop. He was always kind and didn’t mind some of the trouble we got into either.

I was so saddened to hear of Art's passing. He was like a step father to me while he was with my Mom Emmie for many years. They actually had a date together in their teens and he worked with my grandfather. I feel like I've known him forever and I will always remember him. I'm so happy he and I kept in touch after my Mom's passing in 2015. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren and talked about them every time we spoke. My aunt's thanksgiving dinner wasn't the same without his scalloped potatoes. I missed the days we went to Fallsview Casino. He had such a good sense of humor.
My deepest condolences to Monica and Cynthia and their families.
