Obituary of Jim Van Hemert
Jim peacefully passed away into God's hands, surrounded by his family at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket on Sunday, July 10, 2022. Jim Van Hemert of Bradford at 68 years of age.
Beloved husband of Glenda (nee Van Dyke). Loving dad of Jonathan (Kristin), David (Joy) and Benjamin Van Hemert. Loving stepdad of Marcia (Richard) O'Hearn, Jodi (Jay) Saville and Mark (Jamie) Hoving. Proud Opa of Kaileigh, late Avery, and Abigail Van Hemert; Noah, Levi and Ally Van Hemert; Lauren and Jack O'Hearn; Liam and Brady Saville; Thomas, Ally, Andrew and William Hoving. Dear brother of late John (Jean) Van Hemert, Harry (Ginny) Van Hemert, Alex (Rin) Van Hemert, Sara (late Adrian) Van Luyk, Irene (John) Vander Steen, Nellie (Hugh) Van Dyke, Audrey (John) Schenk and late Christine (Cor) Buikema.
Jim was a proud member of IBEW Local 353 Electrical Union for over 45 years. He was actively involved in the construction of many hospitals and schools in the GTA. Jim was fondly remembered for his kindness, generosity and sense of humour. Jim will also be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Rd., Bradford on Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at the St. John's Presbyterian Church, 2940 10th Sideroad, Bradford on Monday, July 18, 2022 at 12:30 p.m.
In Jim's memory donations may be made to the Helping Hand Food Bank, Bradford or to the Presbyterian World Service and Development.
