Obituary of Brunhilde (Hilda) Mulcahy

Brunhilde (Hilda) Mulcahy died on September 26th, 2022, one day before her 84th birthday.

Hilda was born on September 27th, 1938 in Cologne, Germany. She escaped a tragic childhood in Germany to join two of her sisters, Gisela and Annegret in Canada.

Soon after moving to Canada, Hilda went to the bank and met her banker, Michael Mulcahy.  After a whirlwind courtship, Hilda and Michael married on Boxing Day in 1964.

Hilda followed Michael on his banking/financial advisory career from Jane/ Finch, Toronto to Pembroke to Baden Baden in Germany to Richmond Hill to Edmonton to Newmarket and finally to Bradford. She made life long friends wherever their travels took them including holidays spent in Collingwood.

At a time when most people choose to retire, Hilda commenced a career as an assistant in a financial advisory company. She loved the contact with all of the clients.

Hilda leaves her children, Joanne (Harry Black) and Patrick, her daughter-in-law Annabelle, her beloved grandchildren, Mitchell, Liam and Shauna, her sister Annegret (Karl) and her nephew Gordon (Sylvia).

The family is so grateful to have had Sandi Jones with them on this difficult journey while Hilda battled cancer.

The family would also like to thank Deacon David Langley, Nurse Patty Evans, Dr. Baguio, the wonderful staff at the Margaret Bahen Hospice and many family and friends for their devotion and support for Hilda and the family during this heartbreaking time.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, September 29th, 2022 at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Road, Bradford with remembrances at 7:30 pm. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 30th at 10:30 am at Holy Martyrs of Japan Church, 167 Essa Street, Bradford.

In Hilda’s memory, Memorial Donations can be made to the Margaret Bahen Hospice or to Stronach Regional Cancer Centre at Southlake Regional Health Centre.
