Obituary of Afonso Lameirinhas

Afonso peacefully passed away at Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 76 years of age.

Beloved husband of Ofelia Maria Lameirinhas for 52 years. Loving father of Paula (Jason) Currie and Joaquim Lamineirinhas (Kirsten Mullin). Proud Avô of Austin, Danielle; and Emerson. Dear brother of Virginia, Francisco, Manuel, Conceicao and Antonio. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews.

Afonso was born in Portugal in 1946 and came to Canada in Nov. 1971 and attended BDHS where he obtained his welders license and worked as a dedicated welder until his retirement in 2011. Through his career he was always looking to invent new ideas and ways to problem solve. He enjoyed spending his retirement years around gardening, bird watching surrounded by nature and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren and was a long dedicated Portugal soccer fan.

Visitation will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Road, Bradford on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Martyrs of Japan Church, 167 Essa Street, Bradford on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Martyrs of Japan Catholic Cemetery, Bradford.
