I have just learned about Murrays death tonight — He was such a treasure.
I have so much love, respect and admiration for him (and Betty). Such a hard working and dedicated person. Nothing escaped him, clever as a fox, wise as an owl,
resourceful as a prairie dog! A man of the earth — with the best and most honourable intentions always.
So glad to have had his influence in my life.
Love and energies to his family!!

I am so sorry for your loss. Murray was a man of few words but a hard working gentleman. I have great memories spending time in Mount Albert with the Cupples. Love to all!

Murrary was a Good Man,
Grandfather to my daughters Ella & Clare.
He had a saying I have adopted:
The Past is history,
The Future a mystery,
& today is
The Gift
that's why it's called the Present
He had other sayings, but was a man of few words
A Good Man

My sincere condolences to you Betty. And to Mary and Marg and Cynthia and John and families.
It is hard to just mention memories of Murray without including the whole family. A great part of my childhood was spent on your farm. Probably the most impressionable time of my childhood.
I remember well the first night he taught me to catch chickens with the family when the truck came. ‘At night in the dark they don’t run from us. You reach in the dark under a chicken and grab a leg and left er up’ Murray said. He could fit 3 in each hand. I of course was lucky to pick up one! He encouraged me, ‘You can do it Billie, I know they are heavy. You can carry one in each hand way out away from your body so you don’t get scratched Now go out to the truck and come back and get more.’
I was scared, happy, excited, and always happy to be part of what this busy family was up to. And Murray was the busiest man I have ever known from early morning to bed time! Except Sunday night tv line up and supper and donuts. I think we watched Walt Disney, Carol Burnet, and Red Skelton
And as someone else said, I too never saw him get angry. Maybe a little stern looking! after telling us not to ride the pony’s through the corn rows and he would see us flying out of the corn rows riding at full speed in a race. Laughing our heads off. Lol. Only thing that hurt us from those rides was the corn cobs whacking our legs and the leaves giving us big paper cuts. I still never heard heard him get angry.
I remember him telling me he liked having me there but if I was gonna be there I could work with the family And I proudly said I would. Even when it was the monotonous job of shucking peas with Betty and my friends (the fam) for hours! and I didn’t like that job. BUT I do it at our own home now every year with fond memories of Murray, Betty and the family.
Thank you so much Murray for the 6 fantastic years I shared with you when my mother, Else Read and I lived in Mount Albert, even when I fell out of the tractor bucket into the cow …. You had a good laugh. RIP Murry

My deepest sympathies to Betty and the Cupples family for this loss
Murray was a good man. A man I had admiration for.
A fond recollection;
Once when Mary and I arrived at the Mount Albert farm with my parents (visiting from the Uk) Murray made a suggestion.
Murray was a pilot
and I believe a former president of the flying farmers. After a short greeting, it was off to his airfield for a short flight. My step father John had Vertigo but there was not enough time to think, consider or say no. Before we taxied, John carefully and securely buckled up.
In minutes we were up and away on an awe inspiring scenic cruise amongst the clouds, looking down above the green Muskoka’s in sight of Georgian Bay. Around us the clouds spiralled higher, assuming a more anvil shape. The weather was changing as quickly as our flight. Returning to the farm was not a possibility.
Any airfield would do!! Murray nonchalantly guided me to look for orange air socks blowing the right direction for landing. Despite the strong winds Murray piloted us confidently down assuring us all this was just normal procedure. Deplaning was hold on to your hat windy!! Murray tied the wings down for the ensuing gale. Jovial brother Doug came to get us & whisked us back to Mount Albert with quite an adventure to talk about.
Rip Murray.
With love David Robinson, Peterborough

Murray was a very "gentle" man. Wayne enjoyed the laughs he and Murray shared, especially when Murray worked with Wayne as his wingman.
We will not be attending Saturday, but you will be in our thought and prayers.
