MJ
You were one of a kind and could not be put in a box
You had a great sense of funny, and was there when I knocked
I sensed a loyalty and kindness when we first met
The way you looked at things and described them, I will never forget
Your kindness to others was profound and clear to see
You dropped by to see us, leaving us laughing and happy
You had a bond with Roxy that was between you two alone
She adored you and uninvited would go across the street to your home.
You shared news of our little Hamlet and always made me smile
Your kindness never went unnoticed, you always went that extra mile
I cannot see you resting where your lovely soul has gone
I see you stirring up the pot as the quiet souls look on
I am so happy that I got to know you and shared so many good times
Memories of you keep flooding back and I do not struggle with the rhymes
I honor our friendship, like your beautiful garden rich and full.
I will keep the beauty that you showed me deep within my soul.
Love Deirdre

I loved MJ from the1st time, I knocked on her door while selling Avon. She became my 1st friend in Gilford. My dog Roxy adored her. When we brought Roxy home as a puppy, MJ came over and came up with the name Roxy. Roxy was an escape artist and would run around the Gilford neighborhood until she tired out and eventually came home, with the help of MJ.
Roxy would either end up at MJ's house (once in her flower box full of pansies) or she would follow MJ back to our house.
I knew immediately I could trust MJ, she took care of my dogs, mowed our lawn (at a very economical price), brought us news of the neighborhood and showed up with soups and salads that she had made. I also had some great meals at her place and I attended her annual summer party.
I was shocked and so so sad to hear of her passing.
You are dearly missed MJ. there was no one like you.
Love and condolences to Jim Alain, Sammy and family, Deirdre, Bernie, Roxy and Sheba

MJ I am already missing you terribly. You were one of a kind. You were so loved by your community, Sammie and Jim Alain and so many friends. We had so many good times over the years, many, many years. Ski time, cottage time, talking on the phone. I see daily meme's that I just know you would have posted and look to see who did expecting it to be you. You always made me smile. Miss you old friend. What started as locker buddies in Grade 9 became a lifetime of friendship. xx

I can’t imagine a world without Mj. God bless you and your beautiful family. Rest in peace dear friend.

MJ was an incredibly kind & generous woman who we got to know personally through our son’s restaurant in Gilford. She was there regularly not only as a very supportive customer but who became a friend to our family. She was always willing to support the success of this business in any way she could. We shared many good times together & laughs. Her daily presence there will be so missed as well as in our community!

So shocked and saddened to hear about Mary Jo’s sudden passing. MJ has been a longtime Gilford resident and wonderful neighbour to so many. Not only did she (and Sammy) take pride in maintaining Mum’s lawn and garden, MJ always kept an eye out for Mum in her later stages of Alzheimer’s — taking the time to sit with her, sharing stories and sometimes walking her back home.
We’ll miss her voice, her smile, and seeing her on her regular walks around our small community.
Sincere condolences to Jim and Sammy, and family. We hope fond memories of her love and laughter will help you through this difficult time.
