Obituary of Robert "Bob" Brown

Suddenly, on Thursday April 6th , 2023 in the early morning, Robert Charles James Brown of Bradford, ON passed away at the age of 63, after suffering a stroke.

Bob was born in Toronto in 1959, on the 15th of November to Robert and Shurlie Brown. The 3rd son of 7 children, Bob will be mournfully missed by his surviving siblings, Dan and his wife Vanessa, Debbie, Roberta, Billy & Darryl, along with dozens of nieces and nephews.

Bob spoke lovingly and often about his 3 children, Junior, Chrissy and John, and of the missed opportunity to nurture relationships with each one of them and his 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Bob grew up in a west-end neighbourhood known as the junction, where he spent most of his younger years. In 1990, Bob found his soul mate in Cathy Taylor, they shared 33 devoted years together. They relocated to Bradford where Bob worked mostly in renovations over the last 23 years. During this time Bob met and helped many local residents, fostering meaningful friendships.

Bob will be sadly missed by his Taylor family. His stepdaughter Stacye and son-in-law Ray Thorne. His grandchildren RJ Thorne, Melody Howe and spouse Steve Brayford, Tabitha Thorne and spouse Adam Seager and Victoria Howe. His great grandchildren, Tessa, Kassandra, Kayleb, Faith, Makayla, Dawson, Wyatt and Ryeli. His mother-in-law Kay Taylor, brothers and sisters-in-law, Keith and his wife Dianna Taylor and Kim and her husband Sam Smith. His nieces and nephews, grand nieces, and nephews as well as by the many who called upon him to build or fix something.

Bob was a lover of many things, his pets, his tools, country music, old western movies and enjoying the company of family and friends.

In a final gesture of kindness, Bob’s beautiful blue eyes were donated, giving 2 people the gift of sight.

Bob’s family would like to thank the neurology team and ICU staff at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto, for their compassionate care. In Bob's memory, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Family and friends will be received at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Road, Bradford on Friday April 14th , 2023, from 3 p.m. until time of a funeral service at 4 p.m. Cremation to follow.
