Obituary of Laurier "Bids" Plante
It is with the greatest sorrow that we announce his sudden and tragic passing at the age of 53, in Bradford, Ontario on May 9th, 2023. Laurier was a devoted and adored husband to his wife, the love of his life, Lucille (née Lascelle), a proud and loving father to his children Patricia (Andrew) and Miguel, and a caring stepfather to Nathan and Mitchell (Nadine). Laurier was also a proud Pépère to his granddaughters Harlee and his "Junebug" Juniper, who brought him immense joy and happiness.
"Bids" was known for his sweet, kind, and gentle nature, and his love of the great outdoors. He was an avid angler and hunter, spending countless hours pursuing his love for these activities. Laurier was also a skilled softball player, and spent many happy hours on the diamond where he forged many friendships. In recent years, he had also discovered a passion and natural talent for woodworking, creating beautiful and cherished furniture pieces for family and friends. When he did stop long enough to relax, you could find him snuggling with his faithful puppy Max.
Predeceased by his mother Chantal (née Rousseau), Laurier is survived by his father Hubert, his sister Lynne, his brother Mathieu (Line), his nieces and nephews, Mika (Justin), Brianne (Danny), Tyler, Karine, Zoé and Kaleb, and his great-nephew Sylas.
He also leaves to mourn his loss, his mother-in-law Vivianne (Gaston, predeceased), his brother-in-law, Norman (Linda), his sister-in-law Joanne and her husband Glenn (Laurier's dearest friend), nephews and nieces Daniel (Kaytlan), Michael (Ashley), Kyla (Daniel) and Nathalie, as well as his great-niece Audrey and great-nephews Emersyn, James, and Jude.
Laurier will be remembered for his infectious smile, his kind heart, and his loyalty, as well as his unconditional love and unwavering devotion for his family. Gone much too soon, he will be deeply missed by all those who knew him, including many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as the mother of his children, Renelle (Brian) and family, and his colleagues at H&K Canada, especially his "work-wife" Grace.
A man of pride, valour and unwavering duty, he never hesitated to take the burden and suffering of others onto his shoulders, always putting the well-being of his loved ones above his own. His immeasurable strength and relentless courage were, and will continue to be, an inspiration to all.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 - Church Notre-Dame-De-La-Visitation - 10 Église Rd, Lavigne, ON. P0H 1R0 at 10 am with Mass at 11 am. Celebration of Life to follow at Le Club De L’Amitié, 11795 Hwy 64, Verner, ON
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Laurier's memory to the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Laurier était un époux dévoué et adoré de sa femme, l'amour de sa vie, Lucille (née Lascelle ), un père fier et aimant pour ses enfants Patricia (Andrew) et Miguel, et un beau-père attentionné pour Nathan et Mitchell (Nadine). Laurier était aussi un fier Pépère pour ses petites-filles Harlee et sa petite "Junebug" Juniper, qui lui apportait une joie et un bonheur immenses.
"Bids" était connu pour son caractère doux, gentil et aimable, et son amour de la nature. Il était un pêcheur et un chasseur passionné, passant d'innombrables heures à poursuivre son amour pour ces activités. Laurier était également un fantastique joueur de balle molle, ayant passé de nombreuses heures sur le terrain où il a noué de nombreuses amitiés. Au cours des dernières années, il s'était également découvert une passion et un talent naturel pour le travail du bois, créant de beaux meubles précieux pour la famille et les amis. Lorsqu'il s'arrêtait assez longtemps pour se détendre, vous pouviez le trouver blotti dans le salon contre son fidèle chiot Max.
Prédécédé par sa mère Chantal (née Rousseau), Laurier laisse dans le deuil son père Hubert, sa sœur Lynne, son frère Mathieu (Line), ses nièces et neveux, Mika (Justin), Brianne (Danny), Tyler, Karine, Zoé et Kaleb et son petit-neveu Sylas. Il laisse également dans le deuil sa belle-mère Vivianne (Gaston, prédécédé), son beau-frère Norman (Linda), sa belle-sœur Joanne et son époux Glenn (le plus cher ami de Laurier), ses nièces Kyla (Daniel) et Nathalie, ses neveux Daniel (Kaytlan), Michael (Ashley), ainsi que son arrière-nièce Audrey et arrière-neveux Emersyn, James, et Jude.
On se souviendra de Laurier pour son sourire contagieux, son bon cœur, et sa loyauté, ainsi que son amour inconditionnel et son dévouement indéfectible pour sa famille. Parti beaucoup trop tôt, il manquera beaucoup à tous ceux qui l'ont connu, dont plusieurs tantes, oncles et cousins, la mère de ses enfants, Renelle (Brian) et sa famille, ainsi que ses collègues de H&K Canada, particulièrement son "épouse de travail", Grace.
Homme de fierté, de valeur et d'un devoir inébranlable, il n'a jamais hésité à prendre le fardeau et la souffrance des autres sur ses épaules, plaçant toujours le bien-être de ses proches au-dessus du sien. Sa force incommensurable et son courage acharné ont été et continueront d'être une source d'inspiration pour tous.
