Grade nine music class that is where I got to meet Liz. It was an exciting experience to walk into a strangely shaped class room, in the front row a group of girls all together. I had seen them hanging out before they were from a different school all friends from before it seemed. Well If you ever had music class you know how it is in the beginning, its funny, frustrating, challenging, fun, exciting and scary. Its so much noise and chaos at first, Most if us cant even hold the instrument correctly. By the end of the year everyone has found strength inside. To grow and learn and share with the people around them that need help, remembering what keys to hold or how long to hold the note. Together we made music I could not have conceived could come out of this crazy group of kids. Simply by being together and breathing focusing.
I strive to achieve the harmony, wonderment and peace like when when we made music together. I love and miss you Liz thank you for being apart of my life.

I had the great pleasure of working with Liz, she was not only an incredible Medical Laboratory Technologist but also a radiant presence in her co-workers lives. Liz brought warmth and joy to our workplace, always ready with a smile and a kind word. Her passion for her work and her unwavering support for her colleagues made a lasting impact on us all.
She will be greatly missed- may she rest in peace.

My all time favourite picture I ever took of my dear friend Liz Miedema. It was at my 16th birthday party in 1993. She looks so fierce and so vulnerable at the same time, which is just how I remember her.
I also remember her as someone who was very generous, flirty, funny, completely outrageous and so, so brave.
She could be absolutely fearless in life sometimes, and I always admired that about her.
I saved her life one winter when we were kids, wearing snow suits, tiptoeing on the ice of her inground swimming pool, testing our weight, tapping our feet, slowly gliding to the middle. She experimented with a slight jump, lifting her ankles in her boots, and then a more daring move that deposited her directly into the icy pool water.
I acted as quickly as the binding of my heavy-duty-1980s-grade snowsuit would allow and promptly retrieved the net pole even though time was standing still. I extended it to her, some of my weight on the ice, and with super human strength pulled her out of the hole.
We went inside, stripped off her sopping wet two piece and put it on the rad to dry, completely convinced her mom wouldn’t notice.
We always revisited that story after long periods of not being in contact in our adult lives. It was special to us that we were connected that way.
She knew grief 30 years before me, and she believed without a doubt the soul lives on.
Live on in peace, Lizard Queen. ♥️

So very sorry to hear of Liz's passing. I attended elementary and high school with Liz. While we have not stayed in touch as adults, I remember her fondly and am sure that she continued to make a positive impact on all those around her. Thinking of you at this sad time.

Our sincere condolences to Elisabeth’s family and friends. We spent most of our childhood living near the Miedema family house in the Holland Marsh. We have happy memories from when we and Elisabeth were kids.
