Obituary of Diane Adell Scott-Pearse
She’s flown the coop!
At the grand age of 94 years, Diane Adell Scott-Pearse (nee Braden, born in Hamilton, ON) passed peacefully on October 7th. Pre-deceased by her husband Frank (1929-2022), she leaves behind four children: Cydney (Wolfgang) Kaster, John Scott-Pearse, Andrea Scott-Pearse, Claire (Sam) Duboc and 6 grandchildren: Hanna & Grace Loeppky, Natalie, Madeleine, Kendall & Jack Duboc.
Diane was known to be a strong-minded woman, generous with her opinions, remembered by her children as a stickler for manners and proper dress, and abundantly resourceful during times of economic challenge. She was a talented portrait photographer, a pianist, a seasoned cook and baker of the best Yorkshire puddings and pie crust ever. Also, she was an accomplished seamstress of whatever was needed, be it winter coats, doll clothes, even a slipcover for the living room sofa and drapes.
She loved a good joke or a prank, and laughter filled their home when entertaining their wide circle of friends. In mid-life she was displaced from London Ontario to Chatham (kicking and screaming), which in fact turned out to be her happiest years. She earned a bachelor’s degree in her 50’s, in her 60’s became a sports enthusiast (golf, tennis and curling). All of these endeavours provided an active and vital social life for her and Frank.
Her final 2 years were spent at Holland Gardens Retirement in Bradford. Age-related dementia, hearing loss and mobility issues were very irritating for her, inhibiting the independent way she wanted to live her life. However, the support she received by the incredibly empathetic memory care staff has been greatly appreciated, particularly affording her final days to be as comfortable as possible.
A private celebration of life will be held in her honour.
