Obituary of Leslie Gordon Buxton
Leslie Gordon Buxton, from Bradford (and Barrie in more recent years) passed peacefully at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at age 99.
Leslie had a long full life. He served in the British Navy during World War II attaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer serving on a destroyer in the Pacific in His Majesty's Royal Navy.
After the War he went into bridge construction and came to Canada, where he met his beloved wife Madge and became the Chief Civil Engineer for the Toronto Transit Commission.
His retirement years were spent hobby farming and travelling to many different locations. Leslie found art and painting as his medium. He also went on to teach painting to others.
He will be missed by his beloved wife Madeline, loving daughter Kathryn Johnson (Jay) and cherished grandchildren Sarah and Andrew.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Waterford Retirement Home, Home Instead and at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie for their compassion and support.
Visitation will be held at Skwarchuk Funeral Home, 30 Simcoe Road, Bradford on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 10 a.m.- 11 a.m.
Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 11 a.m. which will include a Masonic Service under the auspices of Simcoe Lodge A.F. & A.M. No. 79 G.R.C., a Royal Canadian Legion service followed by words of remembrance.
In Leslie's memory, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
