To all the Huffman family:
We wanted to let you all know that we have been thinking of you during this difficult time for your family. It is true that the sincere warmth and love that he gave has spread to all of his children and grandchildren. What a wonderful gift to give! I remember him as such a gentle soul with a beautiful smile :). He will be so so blessed for all he did in his life for his friends and family and those he served so graciously, as he was such a giving person. What a great example he has been to so many, and for that, he will receive blessings in great abundance. Sending a big hug from our family.

I have no doubt that your father was a wonderful man. Sharon, I could see the love in your eyes when you talked about your Dad. It was so obvious how much you loved him. He certainly was a wonderful man. I know this because he raised such a beautiful family. Thoughts and prayers are always with you and your family, especially now during this difficult time.

I will truly miss such a beautiful man. My husband Randy and I often bumped into uncle Chris and aunt Elsie at Zellers or the mall. We'd be sitting at a little table in a restaurant in Dorset only to look over and find uncle Chris and aunt Elsie! What a wonderful lunch we had together. They loved to get out everyday together. Whenever I go somewhere I half expect to see them. They are a remarkable couple and an example of true love. I'll miss you uncle Chris! My love to all the family xo

Dear Aunt Elsie, Lois, Sharon, Gloria, Sheila, Paul and families,
I'm sorry Mom and I won't be there this week-end to see you all and share stories about your Dad.
The Huffman clan, Greta, Chris, Ralph and Gerald are a special lot. Not rich, not famous, not perfect, but so special. Kind, caring, loving. I'm proud to be part of such a family.
I'll miss my conversations with Uncle Chris. One of the last talks we had was very short compared to others, but his words touched me deeply,
The photos posted made me smile. That lake makes me think our Dads are together. They are on a boat taking their sweet time fishing and talking, knowing I'm not there to call the Coast Guard on them!
I'll miss you Uncle Chris, love Karen

As Chris' s big sister, so many fond memories flood to my mind right now. I remember playing with all my brothers around the Sherbrook house in Peterborough, when we were growing up. Back in the day, girls didn't get to have the same privileges as boys, so I was thankful for my brothers, who allowed me to participate in events that I otherwise would not have been permitted to do. My brothers taught me to climb up on the veranda roof, which provided an excellent hiding place when playing "Cops and Robbers". Later on, I could go to some dances, as long as my brothers attended, too. It was assumed that Chis would protect me from who knows what!? At least, it made our parents feel better!
As I matured, I learned to appreciate how important my brother Chris was to our family. He seemed to have a way of bringing out the best in us and drawing us closer together. Family was so very important to Chris. He loved and respected his Mom and Dad and wanted dearly to convey their values to his own family. I know that he was more than successful in doing so! His children and grandchildren are such outstanding, contributing members of their communities, which is a testament to Chris' s wonderful parenting skills and ability to relate to others on a very human level.
I am so very proud of the many accomplishments that Chris has attained throughout his lifetime and am most thankful for his love and for the influence that he has had upon my life. Much love, sister Greta

Grandpa,
Through all the years you have been such an inspiration to me. The amount of love you give to your family and those around you is amazing. I am so happy that I am lucky enough to call you family and my grandpa. I will never forget the times we had growing up. I always looked forward to our summer trips to birch cliff when we could indulge in our live for ice cream. Never will I go on a fishing trip without my favourite chocolate bar and can of pop. It just wouldn't feel right. You have helped me become the woman that I am today and I thank you for that. In the recent years I loved being able to share my travelling stories with you. Now I know you will be right there with me everywhere I go.
I love you so much grandpa and will miss you so much.

Aunt Elsie, Lois, Sharon, Gloria, Sheila and Paul: We were saddened to hear of the passing of Uncle Chris. We remember him as a kind, gentle, soft spoken man, with a chuckle on his lips and a sparkle in his eye. It is with a smile that we remember him playing the accordian at family gatherings. He always addressed us personally and made us feel welcome. We extend our love and sympathy to you and your families and will keep you all in our hearts and prayers, Kim, Michelle and Cam.

I am saddened to learn of my Brother Chris’ death, someone I have known all my life. We shared a profession and practiced dentistry in the same building for over 35 years until Chris retired. Yet it is our early days that I remember best. Chris and Brother Ralph were my older brothers. I was the tagalong. With me making sometimes an unwelcome trio to their pair, we spent some of our best early years at Aunt Ethel’s cottage on Poplar Point. We paddled our Dad’s skiff round Chemong Lake; fishing, frogging, and exploring. Often we went to play with other boys from the Reservation. We were always barefoot. In a nearby farmer’s field we let the cattle give us rides while holding onto their tales; nothing mean spirited or devilish about our days, just three brothers having fun together outdoors.
Chris was always loving and supportive, in his private life and in his professional one. We have lost a great man. I’m certain he is now looking down, watching us from Heaven.

My memories of Dr. Chris started forty years ago when I joined his dental office practicing Dental Hygiene. I quickly realized he was a very caring, gentle, committed Dentist who worked overtime at making sure his work was perfect and that his patients were comfortable and satisfied with their treatment. He became my role model and up until my retirement at the beginning of this year I tried to give the same commitment to the people in my care. I still had patients who had been "Dr. Chris" patients and some were proud to have "Dr. Chris" fillings forty years later!
He was a very fair employer, always approachable. We shared a love of sweets especially "zero bars"! He had a lovely soft giggle and great sense of humour.
In later years after he had retired from his practice I thought of Dr. Chris as the "Marcus Welby" of dentists, in it for all the right reasons, patient care not financial gain. He would often do treatment for free or reduced fees if someone was experiencing "hard times". I had great respect for him.
The world would be a better place if there were more people like Chris Huffman. I was very fortunate to have known him.
My deepest sympathies to Mrs. Huffman, Lois, Sharon, Gloria, Sheila and Paul and all their families.
Sincerely, Laurie.

Dr. Christopher William Huffman is the most kind person I knew. Since as long ago as I can remember I have watched him extend his generosity beyond his family to everyone he encountered. Whether it was through giving me a toonie upon each visit, or by insisting on offering me the last of his coconut filled chocolates when I left his home, Grandpa found ways to spread joy to me even in his weakest hours.
It is only now, looking back, that I feel I truly appreciate my grandfather. My mother has told me more of him than I saw through my years as his grandson. As we talk in memory of Grandpa she told me stories about him at his church, and how he would always have crowds of people gather around him, eager to get a taste of his wonderful personality. He is the only person I knew who consistently put the needs of others first. This, a quality seldom found in people these days, and the most prominent quality I see that has been adopted by my mother. As I grow up, I can only aspire to be half the man that Grandpa ever was.
Rest In Peace Grandpa ... We Love You

Sheila, Paul & family and all the Huffmans - we are so very sorry for the loss of your father. He was such a warm and friendly man. I haven't seen him since I moved away to Ottawa (23+ years) so my memories are of a younger healthier man. He used to always make me feel welcome. He was always smiling and trying to make me laugh (that wasn't hard). I remember his handshake and how large and warm his hands were.....my hand was lost in his!
You will always have very fond memories of your dad and I'm sure many life lessons he passed on. He is still with you in your hearts guiding you every day. I will always smile when I think of your dad! He had such a wonderful spirit!
Hugs to all xoxox We are thinking of you during this difficult time.

Uncle Chris will always be in my heart as such a loving and caring soul, a wonderful big brother to my Father Ralph and the gentlest Dentist on he planet.
It is times like this that sadness gives way to so many wonderful memories of Uncle Chris and family gatherings enjoying old movies, far too many slide reels :) and enjoying the laughter of Ralph and Chris regale in the one that got away fishing stories.
Rest in peace Chris, as you are never really gone as you will always live in our hearts!

I am so happy that you are finally at peace physically Chris, but your spirit has always been at peace since the day I first met you! You were warm and welcoming on that day and you never changed a bit in the years I have known you since. You defined kindness, gentleness and tolerance.
You burned brightly in your your daughter's life (my wife), and I thank you for the incredible influence you had on her and shaping her into the beautiful person she is.

Grandpa I am going to miss you more than words can describe, but I am thankful to have known you and to be the person I am today and have the memories I have because of you. You taught me to treasure each moment by always taking pictures to ensure that we all remembered every experience, memories that thanks to you I will always have. You taught me to never take myself to seriously, always making me laugh with your wry sense of humour. But most importantly, you taught me how to truly be selfless. No matter what you had to give, you were always thinking of the happiness of others. Whether it be toonies or whatever chocolate you had in your room, whenever I visited you you gave me whatever you had to offer which truly meant so much to me. That is how I will remember you, always thinking of others before yourself. I love you so much Grandpa.

Dr. Chris, one of the many gifts you brought to the world was your ability to set beautiful standards for all of us to follow. Things like how to treat others, how to remain positive no matter what, your gentle sense of humour, and your greatest gift – the gift of kindness.
You have left an army of admirers behind you, all of whom say – “He is such a kind man”. All of us who know and love you have heard people say that many times.
The legacy you leave shows up every day in your children. Five beautiful people who all exhibit the above characteristics. As your son-in-law, I am grateful beneficiary of who Dr. Chris Huffman is.
Thank you for giving me such a beautiful wife – a person who is also very kind and giving, just like you. Thank you for helping shape Tommy into the amazing young man he has become. You were there every day in those crucial formative years. It worked! For that I am ever grateful.
Thank you Dr. Chris for being there when I was working – sometimes too much. Thanks for being our photographer while we were building the business in Newmarket. Thanks for being part of our life in Port Sydney and Huntsville. A beautiful time for all of us. We all came a long way together.
And lastly, thank you for the amazing memories of Chris & Bruce – “the Musky Hunters”. I still remember that enormous fish you brought up to the boat in Georgian Bay and I was unable to net. We both agreed that we had never seen a musky so big! My promise to you is to keep looking for that Musky. As you said, “It will be even bigger when we finally do catch it Bruce”. Ever positive, you are much loved for the high standards you set for all of us. Love Bruce.

Dad, this is not a goodbye message. It’s simply an “update” for you. Your unconditional love will be with me forever and ever.
You appreciated everyday. I will always hear your ever positive ”good morning!" and "good night”. You taught me how important it is to communicate and appreciate the day we were given and be thankful for the one we had.
You made sure you always enjoyed each day to the fullest. Long before it was popular to be "present in the moment”, you appreciated not only your own life but every person you encountered.
You taught us how to live for today and treat others the way you would want to be treated. Always listening like there was no one else that mattered.
We were so blessed to have you and Mom in Muskoka with us all those years. As I reflect now on our life together, that special time is my greatest comfort. Thank you.

all those times you made us stand for way too long in front of your camera, giving us those toonies for little treats at zanetti's, the times you would yank my wiggly teeth out with your cool headgear thing with the magnifying lenses until the one time you tried to pull one but accidentally grabbed the wrong one with your pliers cuz your eyesight was going and then i realized maybe you shouldn't do that anymore, all the times you would make sure we were being safe, your over-exaggerated handshake, the endearing way you would ask who it is your shaking hands with and how you would light up when you realized it was one of your grandkids, the way you cared for grandma even when she was acting strange, the times you would show me how fast you could run with your walker, and most importantly for having an unforgettable, positive influence on my life. i've never met someone as kind as you, and sometimes would wonder how on earth someone could be so selfless, but i will always remember you most for being my grandpa, and the best grandpa any kid could ask for.
