Dear family of Aunt Ona,
How sorry I am not to be able to attend the memorial service in honour of the memory of dear Aunt Ona.
You have written a beautiful life story of Ona in the obituary. I loved it. Superb.
We will all remember this lovely lady always with the warm smile, her kindly demeanour, and her caring ways. With the passing of Aunt Ona, the last of the four siblings in the Pinder family, I look at this as the end of an era , the end of an exceptional generation.
I am the daughter of Cecil, Ona's eldest brother, and I have very rich childhood memories of special family get-togethers over the years. I will always have these memories with me.
I know that Eric, you and Loretta and the family have organized many special occasions for Ona's many, many birthdays!!!
I am sure that Your Mom was very proud of you all -- and quite awed by the generations present at these parties, generations of her family that she and Lorne started so many years ago! Not many people can live long enough to see that.
I send my warmest thoughts as you celebrate the life of this special Mom, grandmother and great grandmother.
June Norgaard.

Dear Edward, Harold and Families,
Wow 106 years old... God bless her!
As long time neighbors, we have a bit of history with the Fines family as we all grew up on James street. We'd like to share a few of our memories with you and your families. Elfrieda and I (Richardis) were part of the gang of kids who played together in the 50's and 60's.
Our first introduction to Mrs. Fines occurred on Edward's birthday, not long after we moved to Bradford. We were new to the neighborhood and all the kids were invited to Ed's birthday party. My sister and I thought we should be there too. We'd never been to a birthday party before. We boldly knocked at the door. It was answered by Mrs. Fines. "We've come for the party"! She smiled at the intruders and graciously ushered us into the dining room. Chairs were promptly pulled up and we happily participated in the festivities and goodies. That was the first party I'd ever crashed. Elfrieda made me do it!
Edward, I'm sure that you still cherish that cracked eggcup and dented tin globe piggy bank. It must have a special place of honour in your home. Very practical gifts LOL...
Your mother always had and kept a beautiful garden. She'd often be out among her plants in her sunhat and long sleeved shirt. We'd often stop to admire and smell the flowers. We'd have a little chat and she would always be happy to tell us about what was growing. For us it was an enjoyable experience.
I recall Mrs. Fines was very active with the United Church women's group. There was always a project on the go...knitting bandages, bazaar works in progress and of course, the weekly afternoon quilting. There was also the baking....smelled great.
All the kids in the neighborhood spent their summers outside...playing house, dress-up, dolls, riding bikes, games of hide-and seek, tag, move-up baseball and even archery. I remember you Harold on that nifty two wheeler of yours, hoping you would let me ride it sometime. You did. Those were the leafy, laughy days of summer and fall in a simpler time. Great childhood memories.
We also admired you father and would visit him at the jewellery shop. He welcomed us and told us what he was repairing or working on. I enjoyed the ticking clocks. My mother, who is still living on James street often remembers your dad and family too. We have our own special legacy of your family that is still standing in my mother's yard. Your father gifted mom a sapling from his linden tree. It was like the trees she grew up with in Europe. We still think of him and your family and often wonder how you all have fared all these years and reminisce about those times.
We send our sincere sympathy and condolences on the loss of your mother, but also send well wishes to you and your families from a couple of 'girls' from the past!
XOX,
Richardis (Charlee) Bianchi and Elfrieda Humenchuk (nee Meier)

We were saddened to hear of Ona's passing. It was our pleasure to have her as one of our residents at the Clock Tower Inn. She was a gentle soul who was a delight to all who lived in our home.
Wonderful smile and always happy to participate in events and celebrations. The world would be a better place if more people were like her.
Our sincere condolences

Dear Eric, Loretta, Carie, Greg and families,
So sorry for the loss of your mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother but what an achievement, living to almost 106! What a full life she led and what an awesome role model. She sure had the right priorities. We have often wondered about her and were saddened to read her obituary today. She will be missed! Madelyn and John
