Well Bill….the fruit does not fall far from the tree!! A better celebration of your life could not have been created!
The entire celebration was from the heart to the “heart “of the family.
It was a wonderful tribute of your life !
From the MUSIC chosen , ..to the WORDS shared , ..by your sister, your daughters, grandchildren and Jayne ..
YOU WERE LOVED !!
There is definitely a vacuum in our hearts today as we ponder our loss.
Sleep easy my great friend. You will be missed!
We will be watching and cherishing that “sparkle on the water”.
Jayne,Jennifer,Sarah and Katie … Betty and I watched the services from start to finish and thank you for sharing Bill’s extraordinary family life with us and all of his friends.

Jayne and family; when Bill called us about a week before he passed I said to Mar that he was saying goodbye. We were saddened and then devastated when he passed. After today' memorial which Marlene and I both watched I was somewhat uplifted hearing all the good and positive things that people said about Bill. It is something that I will aspire to. I just don't know who I can share a cigar with now. Love you all. Marlene and Joe

To those I love and those who loved me
When I am gone, release me, let me go....
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears;
Be happy that we had so many wonderful years.
I gave to you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave to me and happiness
I think you for the love you each have shown,
But now it's time I travel on a alone.
So Grieef a while for me if grief you must;
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a while that we must part,
So bless the memories within your heart.
I won't be far away, for life goes on;
So if you need me, call me and I will come,
Well you can't see me or touch me, I'll be near
And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear,
All my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile and say, "welcome home!"
Love & Prayers, Mary, Don and Family XO XO

My dad would be so honoured and taken back with this tribute from the Palliative Doctors and Nurses at Southlake Regional Hospital who are hiking in his name to raise money for the Hospice where he stayed.
Words can not express how touched I am about this note from my friend Alejandra Muñoz who is the nurse pictured below with Dr. Baguio.

The care and kindness that her and the team at Southlake showed my dad while he was in the hospital was so appreciated. When dad went to hospice he continued to ask about her and tell me how kind she was and that she brought him “water that tasted

Dear Jayne, Jennifer and Craig (Colton & Carter), Katie and Herbert (Sebastian, Wesley, Elliot & Hudson), Sarah and Scott (Easton & Emery), Louise, Ann, Joan and Jim, and Bill’s siblings and their families, Phil and I offer our most sincere condolences. Bill’s passing is indeed a profound loss for you, his family, for his community, for his neighbourhood and for his friends.
I met Bill through Jayne, my childhood friend. I have been truly blessed to be a part of the their lives through their dating years and the milestones of their lives together. I thought I knew Bill very well, but as I read the posted tributes l have learned in greater depth the many aspects of WHO Bill Greer was, how he lived his life and how he influenced so many of us. Bill was kind, generous, giving, funny, serious, mischievous, quiet, gregarious, thoughtful, meticulous, dependable, loyal, loving and spiritual. This list is incomplete; Bill Greer was not. Bill was great human being who loved profoundly and unconditionally; Bill lived life fully with deep spiritual awareness. And so it is, God called his angel home. I know Bill will look over us with the same devotion as he did when he was among us, but Dear Lord, he will be greatly missed by us all. We love you Bill Greer. Rest In Peace.

Bill will always be my outstanding big brother. When I was seventeen, Bill faithfully picked me up every weekend from Junior Ranger Camp, which brings to mind the song, “When I was seventeen, It was a very good year.” Thanks to Bill and Jayne. That summer Bill took me scuba diving. The one and only time I ever played frogman. I am ‘tankful.’
In the nineteen-seventies I bought a ticket to see The Bee Gees. Then I found out Bill and Jayne were going too be in town at the same time. I decided not to attend the concert. Bill and Jayne ended up being much more entertaining.
Back to the drawing board. Bill once show me his architectural design projects. I mentioned to him that his work was definitely worth framing. I’m so glad he displayed his pieces to highlight his artistic ability.
More recently I confessed to Jayne that many years ago I said I didn’t like onions either, just to be like Bill. Actually I love onions. I can just hear Bill, “You pot licker.”
Before going down east for a visit, Bill would say to me, “Bring Persians or don’t bother coming.” Now if that isn’t love I don’t know what is! What a bromance!
Talk about not needing cue cards. Bill’s phenomenal ability to speak from the heart in public left his audience speechless. An amazing feat and really something to see.
Then there was their swimming pool. Bill taught me how to dive off a board at the tender age of forty. I know Bill could have joked about it but he didn’t. Bill and Jayne’s swimming pool was so clear it was hard to tell if there was water in it! Bill’s attention to detail and being meticulous was a thing of legend. Through Bill’s example I’ve cleaned up my act when raking out our living room.
Moving right along, Bill was a real car guy and even had the cars to prove it. Bill’s vehicles and boats were so clean and shiny you needed sunglasses to squint at them, even on a cloudy day!
Bill was a man of sincerity and at times a serious soul. An individual who never lost the joy of play. A great family guy, knowledgable collector and organizer of community events. A true renaissance man.
In the last few years Bill and I had many phone conversations. We were going through some of the same prostate cancer treatments. It was wonderful to reconnect. Our talks helped ease our situation. One of our observations was about how doctors expect us to hold water for radiation treatments, even after they’ve rearranged our plumbing! Bill’s sense of humour was present right up to our last call. What a guy!
Bill was a straight shooter, a man of wisely selected words, with a twinkle in his eye and a fabulous Greer beard. Come to think of it, Bill would have fit right into a western movie, guns and all.
Bill is now in our hearts and souls. Just the other day I was walking along the railway tracks. To my surprise a bottle from the 1910 era was sticking out of the bank! I picked the bottle up and thought, “Thanks Bill.”
Like these old songs remind us, “We’ll Meet Again, don’t know where don’t know when, But I know we’ll meet again.”… “And the load… Doesn’t weigh me down at all…He ain’t heavy… he’s my brother.”
Peace and Love, Kelly

My heart broke when I received the message that Bill had passed. He was truly a loving husband, “Super Dad” to his three girls and incredible Papa to his grandchildren.
I was the lucky friend of Katie’s who got to witness his constant kindness and love for his family...from house renovations to attending all the family celebrations. I looked forward to hearing about the pool contests with the kids and awarding kudos for summer achievements.
I have wonderful memories of him beaming with pride during the many birthday parties for the kids - he was truly “one of a kind”.

We shared many good times with Bill, Jayne, Jennifer, Katie and Sarah, with my sons growing up on Britannia Avenue. Bill was a man of many talents. Construction, electrical, security, and home inspections to name a few. Bill was always there to help in anything that a friend needed. Always a smile, and a great jokester. Bill was an inspiration to me. I remember many memories of the girls growing up with my two boys. And I remember the day he asked if I would help out the the Easter Seal Run. We worked together on that for a number of years to see that everything came off with our a hitch. This went further to the Glass Tiger concerts and running the security. Bill was tireless.. he was meticulous and he worked hard to bring these off successfully. I always admired Bill for his steadfast love for Jayne and his family. He was one of the good ones! I remember Mr. Greer fondly as a kind gentleman who had the best beard around, hands down. As a designer and creative myself, I wish I had an opportunity to learn more about his philosophies of design and his creative journey in life. I suppose I just assumed this might happen one day when I moved back to Canada and I am sad that we did not get to have that conversation. I admired Mr. Greer for always taking great care of his house, his cars, his boat and being a stand-up father. A man of integrity and principle. They don't design them like they used to. Rest in peace Mr. Greer and my sincere condolences to the entire Greer family.

Sincere and heartfelt condolences to the extended Greer family.
The loss of Bill is immense and I am so sorry for your pain. Though I only had the opportunity to meet with Bill a few times, his quiet spirit made an impression. He had a special way of welcoming you in with a warmth that instantly put one at ease. And then, he would step out and let his 'women' be. The four very special ladies in his life, Jayne and his 3 beautiful daughters, are a true testament to the kind of man he was. His lasting partnership with Jayne is inspiration for us all, built of faith and steadfast love that has endured some of life's most difficult tribulations. Also from a family of three girls, I can tell you that it takes a special kind of Dad to raise confident, capable and contributing women, who go out into the world and build something better. Each of Bill's girls have been empowered and prepared to do just that and they paid him back handsomely with 7 amazing grandsons and one 'lil lady. Through the years I have watched Bill meet each one of his grandkids where they needed to be met... he created special moments with each, fostering new skills and passing along his traits to each one. What lucky kids to have their Papa as a light to guide them in their lives ahead. Bill's legacy is his amazing family, and we are all so very lucky to share in that. Know that we walk along side with you in your loss.
All our love and support,

I only met Bill a handful of times in person - Sarah’s bridal shower weekend in Toronto, Sarah and Scott’s wedding in Kelowna, a visit to Vancouver when Easton was born. During those celebrations, Bill lovingly shared stories that centered around his family: the girls’ childhoods, family road trips and vacations, fun traditions with his grandkids. It was clear to see he dearly loved his family and how very happy and proud he was, as a Husband, a Dad, and a Papa.
There are no words to express how sorry we are for your loss and the heartbreak you all feel. Bill’s love for family and the special traditions you all share is a beautiful legacy that will live on in each of you. On May 5, in the early hours of morning my sweet dad left his beaten and broken body here on earth.
He wasn’t only my father, he was my mentor, my ally, my friend. I admired him so much and followed in his footsteps where we shared a love of design, creativity, problem solving and workmanship. He would often say: "she comes by it naturally, she is just like me." and I wore that as a badge of honour.
He was always at our house, working on a small project and bringing my design vision to life - he wanted to help whenever he could, even when he was not as strong as he used to be. Right up to the end, while he was in hospice we worked on small projects together and he would sketch out his thoughts to explain what he was talking about. He took great pride in everything he did.
Dad was the most extraordinary papa to my 4 little boys who truly carry a piece of his heart in theirs. He excelled at being a papa and took every opportunity to share their interest whether it would be building LEGO sets, helping with swimming, teaching them to fish, or having them over for movie nights and sleepovers. He really got a kick out of them and enjoyed the time together. I would sometimes watch him watching them, and then he would turn to me and say: "Katie, I don't know how you do it". I do - It is because I had these two extraordinary parents who met so young, fell in love and had three girls who they poured everything into. These two people who continuously encourage me, cheered me on and have loved me every step of the way.
I feel privileged to have been awarded this special father, especially this most sacred time with him over the last month. I am humbled by his strength and perseverance.
Thank you for all who have reached out to me, my mom and sisters. We are holding on to each other tightly and will continue my father’s legacy of kindness, creativity and love of family and life itself.
(Katie Greer - Godinez)

My sincere condolences to the Greer family. Though I never had the opportunity to meet Bill, I can say for certain I know where my dear friend Sarah got the twinkle in her eye! Sending love and light to you all through this time of sorrow. It is my honour to read these beautiful tributes; what a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend he was. A life well lived. May he Rest In Peace.

Although I only met Bill briefly at Scott and Sarah’s wedding, I remember him well. I recall thinking what a gentle and loving person he was and how deeply he adored his girls. I see that love reflected back every time Sarah posts a picture of the kids or tells us what incredible little people they are growing up to be. His love and his example will continue to grow through his girls and all the the beautiful grandchildren he left behind. He may be gone now, but he’ll never be forgotten .
Our deepest condolences to the entire Greer family. I hope you feel the love surrounding you all as you navigate this difficult time.

To the family of Bill Greer. I am so sorry for your loss. As I sit to write this I just keep thinking how he was truly cherished by all who knew him. I was lucky to spend my childhood running through the Greer house, and on the boat rushing through the water in the sun. Even as a child I knew how happy the boat made Bill and his family. Thank you Mr. Greer for welcoming me into your home and family and filling my memories with fun, joy and happiness. It is really hard to find words to express the sympathy I have for all who loved Bill, especially to Jane, Jen, Katie and Sarah. My deepest condolences to all of you. To my sweet friend Sarah, I can’t wait for the day when I can hug you fiercely and reminisce about your dad. XO

Sadly I said goodbye to my father in law Bill this week and once again I say… FU to cancer.
Unfortunately because of Covid, my kids and I cannot attend his funeral service and lay him to rest…so I’ll use the only platform I have to speak from my heart.
My kids lost their Papa, Sarah her loving Dad and I lost one of my role models and a friend.
Bill you were a fighter till then end, and I expected nothing less from you. You were a man of few words at times, growing up in a house full of 4 girls, it was tough to get a word in…but when you did get to speak, everyone listened. Not cause you were strict, but because you were thoughtful and defined quality, in the words you spoke, the advice you gave and the care you took in choosing your words – cause you always made your conversations count.
You were meticulous, in the attention you paid to your home projects, your cars, and even your Christmas wrapping.
One thing that always made me laugh was how you despised peppers and onions, but you lived in the vegetable capital of Ontario, surrounded by the smell of onion fields!
You loved the holidays and loved a turkey dinner. You were like the Dad in Christmas story when he kept sneaking into the kitchen to carve off a taste for the basting bird.
You had a sweet tooth like I’d never seen before and introduced me to Sally Ann’s and Persians from Thunder Bay. My teeth hurt just looking at them, but man did you love those things!
When I first started staying at your house, in classic Dad fashion, you’d come downstairs in Kirkland blue jeans, no shirt and put on the coffee. You took baths not showers and for a guy that fixed everything in sight, you had a shower that was not for use cause it “would leak” - it puzzled me...but I now realize that it was intentional…it was YOUR bathroom and that was your way of keeping it that way! Well played Bill!
You're the only man I know that drank Corona 365 days a year and nothing else. You loved a good cigar after dinner and I enjoyed those moments we shared indulging in your collection of fine cigars.
I’ll miss our nights at the Tumbleweed in Arizona, the only bar I know that had a salad bar….and we would enter in daylight…and exit in daylight….not cause we had an all nighter and the sun was rising.. but because it closed at 7pm and the sun hadn’t set yet when it closed for the night!
You never let me pay for dinner, sneaking your credit card to the waiter even before we sat down. You were proud that way. It was unnecessary but appreciated and I learned to respect it. It was just your style to do so and I soon learned it made you happy and to just let it go and order the most expensive thing on the menu and complain it was not cooked right and we’d get it for free. I think on our last trip to Palm Springs we had 5 straight nights of free steak meals.
You loved everything about the water and I loved getting to go out on Georgian Bay cruising to the sounds of Genesis on the boat's cassette player. Lounging poolside under the hot sun at your home or on vacation in Arizona was your happy place. While you were obviously sad Sarah moved to BC, I think you secretly loved it because you got to see the Pacific Ocean when you visited.
You loved to scuba dive, but I never got to see you do it…you loved your Monte Carlo….but I never got to see you drive it or go for a ride in it…because cancer robbed me of that time with you.
But I will not let you win cancer…cause Bill's legacy is something you can’t take away from me.
Bill in our last conversation I got to say "Thank you and I love you". Thank you for being loving, accepting me into your family and for being a great man. I am so proud of you and I’m a better man for having had the privilege of having you in my life. I told you I would look after your girls, and your family and you said “that eases mind…I know you will Scott". I also asked you to do one more thing for me….and that was to call me a “Potlicker" one last time….you laughed and said “You Potlicker".
I hope you are sitting on that dock in heaven, smoking that cigar and staring out across the water as the sunlight dances across the ripples of the waves…cause that’s where I have told Easton and Emery to look for you…and I’ll be looking right along side them - where the sparkle meets the water is where we will find you.
I'll see you again, but not for a long time as I've got work to do to fill the void you have left...but for now I'll send you a cigar ring every so often and I know you will watch over us and your grandbabies.

Jayne, our heartfelt condolences go out to you, the Girls and all your family. We know so well how much Bill is loved; how he welcomed his three sons-in-law into the Greer family; how he absolutely loved and adored his grandchildren and how much they LOVE their Papa.
I, Simone, will always remember being out to attend Sarah’s bridal shower and Bill showing me his amazing collection of bottles (all shapes and colours) which he had retrieved from the bottom of the lake while scuba diving. The task of cleaning and restoring had obviously taken a great deal of skill and patience. Equally impressive was the beautiful, lighted shelving Bill had constructed to display his collection.
Living in Vancouver we didn’t have the opportunity to spend a lot of time together; however, we know Bill was a kind, empathetic man with a fine sense of humour and he enjoyed a good cigar too! Sarah & Scott have shared many fond memories and we look forward to many more. May your tears turn to smiles; your smiles turn to laughter. God Bless.
Love, Simone & Bob Perfonic

“When you need Bill’s touch and loving gaze, gone but not forgotten is the perfect phrase. Smiling from a place that he makes glow. Trust he is always there, watching as you grow, find him in the place where all your treasures go....”
Bill is in your hearts, your children’s eyes, their walks, their hopes, every challenge they achieve, every dream that comes true.
I believe this because Bill is my big brother. He taught me everything I know, encouraged me when life was tough and made me a better person with his strength and love.
With sincere sympathy and warm hugs, Love Patricia

Word can’t express the sympathies I am passing on to Mrs. Greer, Jennifer, Katie, Sarah and the entire family. Mr. Greer did have a twinkle in his eye and I remember him running in races before it was trendy. The loss of someone who has influenced so many lives is so hard to absorb and trying to think of a world with him in it is beyond difficult. But I hope you find strength in your memories and see that twinkle in yourselves and the grandchildren. Sending lots of love, Michelle Banfield

Bill Greer was truely one of the most nicest men I have ever known. He always had such a warm and welcoming smile when you entered a room, and always made you feel like part of his family. Bill loved his family and friends so much and that showed in all he did. Anyone who was blessed to know this man would say the same and so much more. I know Bill (Mr.Greer) will continue to watch over his family from up above to guide and protect them as he did when he was here on earth. " Those we love walk beside us everyday". Rest in peace Mr.Greer and God bless The Greer family with strength and comfort during this very heartbreaking and hard time. Sending lots of love and prayers; Lisa Graham (Rodrigues) & Family xo
